I want to smell like the 80's

I've just been reading about Bijan for Men and I've become interested in knowing what people smelled like in 80's, so give me some insight!

in the 80´s I used to wear Vanderbilt Eau de Toilette

at the end of the 80´s I wore Intuition Parfum

I remember having bottles of Loulou Parfum, Bijan Women Eau de Toilette, Safari Eau de Parfum , Yohji (1996) Eau de Toilette and N°5 Eau de Parfum, Liz Claiborne Eau de Toilette but I think I got those in the early 90´s

I would try these in person, if you can. 80s scents are not typical for modern tastes 😂, but I really love them.

Azzaro Pour Homme EDT. A beautiful anise fougere that is as interesting today as it was back in the early 80’s. It’s a cheapy so performance of todays version is terrible. But, its worth the 40 minutes you get when you want a vintage old school hit of something different.

oh…and everyone smelled like Calvin Klein Obsession or Polo

Drakkar Noir Eau de Toilette is the answer. Dudes rocked unapologetically nuclear fougere powerhouse fragrances.

Great thread! Since Drakkar and Poison are already well covered, I'd add one that nobody's mentioned yet: Antaeus by Chanel, dark, powerfully masculine, with oakmoss, patchouli and leather it's the quintessential 80s powerhouse that actually still holds up beautifully today and won't break the bank.
Ceesie is right to be amazed it took this long to appear! 😄

There are three ways to approach "smelling like the 80's." One would be to find newer scents that are like the fragrances available in the 80's. Another would be to purchase vintage bottles of scents that were available then. Lastly, there are fragrances released then that are still available in new bottles today, although there are often complaints of reformulations that are weaker or actually change the scent.

To help with the latter approach for masculine fragrances, I and some other Parfumo members put together a "Catalog of Grandpa Juice pre 2006." The list is located in my collection as a shelf with that name. Link here. The fragrances listed there (over 180) are all still available as new bottles. The shelf can be sorted by release year to make it easier to find the ones that were released pre 1990. The oldest one in the list is Number Six Cologne released in 1772.
