My mistake...! / Is it worth the money? / Comparisons to others! / More LOVE for... / Honest opinion...
Hello everyone,

this might be a longer review... and for many reasons.

However, before I get directly to "Purple Accento | XerJoff", let me share something that might be interesting upfront. I had this fragrance from 2018 to 2019 and I only gave it up for a larger trade, and all these years I had a decant here and there because it never really let me go, and at some point (from 2022 until recently) I forgot about "Purple Accento | XerJoff"... As it turns out, this was a very big mistake = a subtle misjudgment on my part, because I had forgotten how unique it really is!

At the end of 2022, I bought a bottle here in the Souk and was actually super happy - the price was really okay, old batch (33520 X) and... it became clear upon unpacking = counterfeit. After a legal dispute later, I finally have a real one and now I can tell you exactly why it is so good!

About the scent:

It is fruity and sweet + slightly creamy, and when you hear that, you might think of many (also because of the name - "Accento | XerJoff" or "Erba Pura | XerJoff"), to all those who think that, I can directly say actually NO! Yes, it has moments of something sweet - fruity, but this is at most 10%!

Why only 10%:

I am honest = I have never been a fan of either = absolutely not. I got absolutely unpleasant vibes (which some here also have), in the sense of a very dry synthetic sweetness or tissue vibes, and the performance for me specifically with the normal "Accento | XerJoff" was never good despite all the batches (when testing).

The scent cannot be reduced to just that, but has certain other moments, which is why I like it very much. YES, it starts off very sweet - fruity (not synthetic) and becomes increasingly creamier, and after 4 hours I even recognize certain hints of my iris favorites (the "Shooting Stars - Apollonia | XerJoff" and the "17/17 - Irisss | XerJoff"), this feeling lasts for about 2 to 3 hours and then it ends somewhat like the (hold on!) Layton Exclusif, because I mean this mix of creamy musk, gentle vanilla, and woody oud - but very little (and with Layton Exclusif there is also guaiac wood included, my favorite wood by the way).

Performance:

Anyone who does not give at least a 9 out of 10 for the old batch (22 X and earlier), phew, difficult! If a fragrance is noticeable for 14 hours or more and is still there when you are already gone ;) then in my perception, you have to give at least a 9!

Is it worth the high price:

In this regard, I really find it hard to say YES or NO, priorities and requirements for a fragrance are different for everyone, as is the wallet... - let’s put it this way, if we say we have a certain desire for luxury products / niche fragrance products, then I find it difficult or quite honestly almost pointless to criticize this as something negative. No one forces us to spend this. If you ask me now: Benny, is it WORTH it? Then I say, if you want to spend it, test it and then buy it, but I recommend everyone to test it at least once! You just have to experience it - the art of what is possible / can be.

BUT,
I just looked directly at Xerjoff's homepage again and they are asking for €700 (!!!) for it. Is it worth that? For me, NO. If you find a leftover bottle here in the Souk, for example - that’s what I did too!

Another thing about the batch:

To my knowledge (!) Xerjoff had to adjust all their fragrances according to IFRA regulations, and the last major adjustment was from 01.01.2022 until, as far as I know, 01.07.2022, after which all fragrances changed somewhat. Different in development, performance, and quality. Please just keep this in mind. I always recommend the following: if it is financially possible for you, then buy a fragrance as close as possible to the day of its release.

Now something general!

Now to the topic of luxury:

As you can see in part in my profile, I have really smelled many fragrances and there are fragrances where you can smell a certain (partly) strong synthetics and you quickly realize that some fragrance houses focus more on quantity than quality, and there are some where you notice "oh come on, let’s put in more + better stuff" and you can smell that at the end of the day! When I write here that you can notice the quality, then that doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. My personal opinion (!), this level is something you have to reach first, BECAUSE the "Purple Accento | XerJoff" is in a completely different league than, for example, "Erba Pura | XerJoff", "Erba Gold | XerJoff", "Accento | XerJoff", or Kirkè Extrait de Parfum (just to mention a few).

Just a quick note on the topic of packaging, bottle, sprayer:

I’ll keep it short 10 out of 10 in every category and I know very well that tastes are very different. Anyone who does not rate (from the 3 things) with a 9 or 10 "HAS RUN FULL SPEED INTO THE FRIDGE", so honestly, leather packaging, full metal cap, great timeless bottle design.... so I find it very hard to rate it differently and I’m not saying this because I like or dislike a brand! I do not rate (!!!) the stars here or the purple reference, because whether you like it or not is relative!

Now a short note on my opinion:

I am not sponsored, influenced by anyone, do not receive money or anything else. I approach the topic of perfume as I am, honestly, everything else is not my style. My true personal opinion is very VALUABLE to me and I hope maybe ;) that you can tell. If I don’t like something like packaging, bottle, sprayer, or H/S, then I communicate that too!

If I really weren’t convinced, I wouldn’t recommend it to you!
(At least one test is definitely WORTH it,
BUT very important, pay attention to the batch, because as with PDM, it can mean more or less that the fragrance you are testing is different from the one I have + it is unfortunately known that the fragrances have significantly declined from a certain batch.)

And now have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny

Please don't throw stones, it's my 1st comment:

While browsing for new fragrances, I stumbled upon Xerjoff - Purple Accento, and it immediately captivated me. This graceful, beautifully sparkling, lilac velvet bottle caught my eye right away. A decision was quickly made: I had to have it. However, the price, for which one feels like they have to sell their soul, initially deterred me. Because of that, a blind buy was out of the question, I’m not suicidal.

One day, I received a package from a dear swap buddy, which included a sample of the purple soul-seller. I had an incredibly high expectation, and so I opened the package with trembling hands. Even while cutting open the box, this beautiful scent shot into my nose. Wow - What a beast. I was in love. Now it was official, the Purple Accento had to become part of my collection, no matter the cost.

Some time later, the beauty arrived, and I could admire the bottle for the first time in person. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful bottles I have ever seen. I generally like the design of Xerjoff, but with Purple Accento, they have outdone themselves.

Now to the scent itself: of course, one cannot deny a similarity to Erba Pura - but I personally see no parallels to the regular Accento. Upon spraying, you are immediately enveloped in a thick veil that threatens to overwhelm you, but in a positive way. The oud is rather subdued for me, which I don’t find to be a bad thing. In the drydown, a caressing cloud of woods, vanilla, and musk develops. I myself still perceived the scent on my skin 24 hours later, despite 9 hours of work and a trip to the shower. Longevity and sillage leave nothing to be desired for me. It’s a beast and fills rooms. My colleague (I work in retail) smelled the fragrance throughout the entire store (by the way, the store is about 800m²).

Conclusion: For me, the Purple Accento is my holy grail, a jack-of-all-trades, a scent that can be worn on any occasion, perfect for anyone who likes to stand out.
I wouldn’t want to give it up for any amount of money. In my eyes, it’s worth every cent.

Average fragrance with a crazy price
Xerjoff Purple Accento had been on my wish list for a very long time; I almost bought it blind. The idea of buying it blind is, of course, completely crazy in a way, but that's how it is with our hobby. Fortunately, I managed to hold back and not take the plunge into a blind buy.

Now I want to criticize something that certainly not everyone will understand: How can this fragrance be called Accento? The two fragrances have absolutely no similarities. This personally bothered me a bit, and I deduct a point for this in the fragrance rating.

For me, Purple Accento, which is very similar to Erba Pura, doesn’t really have a development. There’s mandarin, vanilla, musk, and amber in an extreme amount. As a difference, there’s also a gentle pineapple and some oud, along with a light floral note from the hyacinth. However, the oud note only comes through for me after 30 minutes.

I have to say that I see no reason to buy Purple Accento for myself. I already own Erba Pura, and somehow the difference here is just too small for me. I also have the better and cheaper alternative, Tiziana Terenzi Halley. Halley offers me a better differentiation from the typical Erba Pura note and takes a different direction.

The longevity is, of course, extremely good, as is typical for Xerjoff. I could still perceive Purple Accento lightly after 14 hours. The sillage is also very strong again. In the first few hours, Purple Accento fills entire rooms. Only after 10 hours does Purple Accento become close to the skin.

The fragrance is good, but simply not unique enough to convince. In the end, it’s also the price that has made the fragrance completely uninteresting for me, as I won’t pay €600 for something that is similar.

When you have it, it's beautiful.
I bought this fragrance, and whether I would do it again for the price, I don't know. However, I don't want to miss this scent.
This very strong and beautiful top note is outstanding.
It gives off an incredibly beautiful smell; whether I can really smell the oud, I don't know.

I can't understand people who say there is no real difference to the regular Accento; for me, they are two different fragrances.
The drydown is really very beautiful; the vanilla with the light wood accord is stunning, and for me, the intensity over time is much better compared to the regular Accento.
In my opinion, it is not average and clearly stands out from a "normal" fragrance.

If someone is faced with the decision to buy this fragrance, I would only advise them to do so if they have the extra cash and want a scent that doesn't serve an above-average niche. Still, it is a beautiful fragrance that I don't want to miss in my collection.

Erba Pura Twin
So

I have been recommended this fragrance very, very often.
Therefore, I had to add it as a tester to my new Xerjoff order.

When it finally arrived, I dove right into it and was amazed.

For me, there is no difference to Erba - Pura.
The fruity notes are present from start to finish.
I don't get any pineapple at all. The bergamot and mandarin dominate this fragrance for me, just like in Erba - Pura.

Did you feel the same way?

Cross-breed scent from two Xerjoff already makes. Smells like Erba Pura and Accento have been thrown into one bottle. For this price big no.

It really smells like spring, purple flowers blooming. However close to Erba Pura with an added fructis shampoo note. Good but expensive

My favourite warm weather scent right now, really fruity with the Hyacinth in the forground. Very Nice to layer with Bianco Latte.

Smells very similar to accento. Really just another accento with a tweak to make money. That’s what all houses do in the end unfortunately.

Accentos Ananas layers pure fruit puree on whipped cream, with heaps of jasmine & a lot, very much vanilla - cow dung. It smells quite authentically artificial like Maoam. Al Kimiya meets Sospiro.

I find it absolutely awful. So stuffy. Only wearable, for example, at an outdoor cinema or similar. It annoys me with sweetness, hairspray, jasmine, oud, musk.

Mixing Erba Pura with Alex. Orientale sounds critical, but it's perfectly balanced with a great progression… Price is way too high!

Feels more luxurious and softer
than Erba Pura and is noticeably
gentler and easier to
wear than Erba Oud.
Scent/Strength very good :)
Price/Value well... :D
