Strong, overwhelming and unforgiving aldehydes. If I had a doubt as to what an aldehyde smells like, it's been cleared (including my nostrils) due to this fragrance. Clean, soapy, fresh, that's all I'm getting for the first hour or so. I get the soapy, luxurious suds, but like dialed to over a thousand. It's at the same time fresh, spicy, clean. Very strong. After about an hour or two, the aldehydes move a bit to reveal powdery florals with a subtle spiciness. I can't make out any distinct florals, but it turns the fragrance a bit more palatable to my nose and more bearable. Drydown goes a bit more woody and warm, with some soapy creaminess like a good luxurious lather. It ends up smelling like warm skin, luxurious soap, woodiness and powdery florals.

I am definitely not a fan of aldehydes (now that I know what they smell like), nor am I a fan of the soapy powderiness I got from this fragrance. Very overwhelming and strong. Would've loved more defined florals underneath that clean, soapy powderiness. Definitely giving feminine vibes, although a man wearing this would smell extra clean to me. Do sample beforehand.

Dia 40 smells like expensive artisanal soap. Sudsy aldehydes dominate, and there are hints of something green and leafy, as well as powdery rose. Then I get a little warm fur and sweet sandalwood in the drydown. Despite the powdery soapiness, Dia 40 feels modern and timeless. It's gorgeous and squeaky clean.

I was already a fan of the Dia Woman Eau de Parfum.
I like the Dia 40 even a bit better, more intense soap scent with vintage character.
I love this form of "well-groomed" fragrances!
You really have to be a soap lover to appreciate this scent.....
