Fruitier, smoother, creamier than og, mellow&polished until the perfection. Almond is an excellent addition. Sharp, brash nuances are gone.

Less fruity/sweet & way quieter. Less generic as on-skin it felt spicy in the top (overlap with Lineage) and aromatic-bitter in the base.

In my skin, Guidance 46 smells almost 10% identical to the OG. If you have the original, you don’t need this.

Amouage Guidance 46 is a stunning update to the classic. The Pear and Rose notes are much more pronounced compared to the OG.

For what it is, the price is dumb, but as a mass-appealing girly scent, this is manageable.

Floral Nuclear Weapon
Guys, I've heard of powerful, trail-blazing perfumes, but here we have a category apart. A weapon of mass destruction. Perfumes like Pantheon ext, megamare, followed are colonies compared to it.
Here Quentin has taken the astral tubéreuse base, added a pear-hazelnut accord in the opening, removed the cinnamon and put in loads of flowers, and used a concentration outside of all permitted levels. Parfumo should add an extra step for duration and trail. Here we are over the top. Otherwise, I liked it. DNA Bisch 100%, but power perhaps too much. 100 ml like this when can you ever run out? IDK.
This is the Zar bomb of perfumes.

All that gas for what?
After the immense success achieved by Amouage for going into the cookie cutter mainstream with the original Guidance (and subsequently with Love Delight), the corporate warlords are back to sell you the extrait concentration for the low-low price of €490/100ml. So what are you getting here that you don't get in the original Guidance?

Official sample purchased from Jovoy, opinions on an in-doors test with 4 sprays on the right hand.

The scent opens very strong, but not as nuclear as the original. The product clearly smells adjacent to the original Guidance and in the first minute, I am already thinking that it achieves nothing as a flanker just like how Alexandria II Anniversary provided very little new to the original Alexandria II Parfum. The leading accords in Guidance 46 remain sweet-floral and the creamy qualities are still there. The fruitiness has clearly been toned back as the scent doesn't come off as generic as the original with its peachy tan lotion vibe.

The first difference that I spot is the spiciness in the first ~15 or so minutes which is a note that I recognize from Lineage. When smelled up-close, there is a hint of oriental here. This is what you'd expect an Amouage fragrance to smell like if they wanted a semi-mainstream fragrance as it has that complex touch that Amouage is known for. Another difference comes from the cistus note which brings a very unexpected masculine aromatic quality in the base of the fragrance, akin to some of Roja's fragrances. It even gave me moments of minty mojito underneath the standard sweet-floral-creamy Guidance profile. After 1-1.5 hours I get mild hints of incense, but just like the previously mentioned mojito aspect, this isn't worth anything more than a slight mention.

The main differences between Guidance 46 and Guidance are that G46 is significantly (!) less fruity in the top, heart & drydown. The cistus brings that aromatic touch on-skin which was definitely not there in the original. Performance is severely reduced with G46 as the sillage is mediocre (and it could even be poor in all honesty) which is nothing new for Amouage extraits (see: Jubilation 40, Dia 40). Longevity also appears to be massively overstated here on Parfumo as it is misrepresentative to count all those hours of intimate performance towards longevity, given many people buy the original Guidance for the strength of the scents and getting the C-word.

If this wasn't a PR piece, nobody would be buying this over the original Guidance.

Guidance: Rose Essence
I'd like to start by saying this is a beautiful fragrance. Naturally, Guidance 46 is going to have much in common with Guidance, but it is absolutely not an enhancement or stronger rendition of the classic. The strength and tenacity of the Extrait is not a far leap from the original. However, when wearing them side by side there are noticeable differences. It almost seems as if Guidance outperforms 46, but this is why it is seemingly so.

Olibanum (frankincense) is a dominating note in the original composition alongside the decadent hazelnut and vanilla dipped pear. 46 has every bit of the original DNA, but with the addition of rosewater and bitter almond it does deliver a softer impression. Ambrette seeds, coming from hibiscus has fruity tendencies that compliment pear. Georgywood is an aroma chemical similar to Iso E Super known to smell clean and somewhat woody. What does that mean for the frankincense? This note has been heavily subdued, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This means you now have two variations of an amazing fragrance. It just depends on how you prefer to wear it. If you are partial to the gourmand and spicy aspects of Guidance, you may enjoy the classic. However, if you lean more towards the sweet and floral aspects of Guidance you will certainly enjoy 46.

Mr. Bisch, you certainly outdid yourself with the original release, because Guidance itself feels like an Extrait, and dare I say more dense than 46. This also goes back to the newly added rosewater note, which is present throughout most of the duration... at least on my skin. As Guidance 46 has dried down (40 min later), Guidance is still going very strong as if it were just applied. In my personal opinion, this fragrance should have been titled Guidance: Rose Essence; as it's more so a different concept of the original composition.

Pretty good for the Guidance lover
Guidance by Amouage is I would say the first and only scent that has captured me like no other. I use it year-round and I don't care if people don't like it. This scent has given me so many compliments (Guidance). I recently tried a decant of Guidance 46 and the number of compliments and getting stopped by strangers was unreal. This new Extrait version has better longevity (I've tested it against EDP) but is more tamed regarding sillage. The fragrance itself is much more unique in some ways. Guidance will remain my favorite scent but this new extrait will be layered for when I want extra longevity.

May I (mis)guide you once again?
Meetings with my little sister are often very surprising from a fragrance point of view and she manages quite well to support her self-confident appearance with fragrance veils that are completely unknown to me. This evening was no exception. Although her molecular entourage did not seem entirely unfamiliar to me. In response to my question about her new companion, which is always the same in these cases, she replied euphorically: "I'm just letting myself be seduced by Amouage "Guidance" once again!".

Until a few months ago, I was only familiar with the oriental sisters Dia, Memoir, Lyric and Sunshine. I hadn't noticed Amouage in the field of wearable, more Western-influenced fragrances. Then the perfume house presented "Guidance" and my sister seemed to literally soak it up. It was always with her at first and the surprises at our meetings became less frequent.

So what is now presented here with Guidance 46 is a very finely tuned, versatile and incredibly exciting fragrance for going out alongside the previous standard Guidance. Here, the higher perfume concentration regulates many things in a softer, fruitier and even more elegant fragrance journey.

The opening with the peary hazelnut notes, wrapped in a delicate veil of incense, is an absolute delight. What an unusual start. A combination of rose and saffron soon takes over, surrounded by osmanthus with its fruity-floral and delicately leathery notes. And just when you think you have captured the entire spectrum, you are presented with a vanilla sandalwood base note.

The drydown is unique and lasts for what feels like an eternity - seems to be a long guidance. The sillage is always seductive, very present but never disturbing. The fragrance offers the best seduction through the dark, cool seasons deep into spring. It is actually always wearable, but it wants to guide and support you as soon as you touch the bottle.

I have rarely been able to experience such a seductive fragrance.

Thanks to my little sister!
