Great Companion for the Summer
The Aura of Amalfi completely caught me off guard. It is truly an extraordinary summer fragrance with a lovely honey melon note. Even in the dry-down, it develops excellently. Moreover, it has really good longevity for a summer scent. This fragrance is just right for the upcoming hot days. Yesterday, I received two compliments for it while shopping. Definitely my companion for the summer.

I indulge myself on the Amalfi Coast…
… for a week at Villa San Michelle. I sit on the legendary terrace, enjoying my cappuccino and a fruit salad of pears and honeydew melons with a touch of pepper, garnished with orange blossoms and lavender. Shaded by the trees that spread their woody aroma, I gaze out at the Mediterranean, and a fresh aquatic breeze brushes against my skin. The sun is shining, and it is dry. The only thing I notice additionally is my sunscreen. I dreamily look into the distance and let my thoughts wander.

When applying this fragrance, the first thing that hits the nose is a fruity citrus note (even though it is not listed in the fragrance pyramid) and a fresh scent. Along with that, there is a delicate spiciness from the pepper. This combines with floral notes. To make it a bit more mature, there are also woody, dry, creamy accents added.

The longevity and sillage are good.

Here, the house of Birkholz has once again launched a fragrance that evokes exactly these places whose name it bears. This time, it’s the Amalfi Coast. But unlike most others with citrusy fresh notes, it is predominantly fruity and aquatic. Very successful and absolutely unisex. I would say the starting age is around 23 years and then, as almost always, open upwards. This perfume certainly reaches its peak on warm and hot days. But that also makes it interesting for colder days, as it simply brings good mood and brings spring and summer into the house on those dreary days. It can be worn during the day at university, in the office, at a meeting, during lunch, while meeting friends at a café, while shopping, or just in leisure time. In the evening, it works well at a concert, in the opera, at dinner, in a bar, at a club, at a party, or even on a date for two.

Anyone who enjoys a fruity citrusy fresh peppery floral woody dry creamy fragrance with summer vibes should definitely check this one out; it is definitely worth it. We will talk about the price later. The bottle is, as always, a spectacle.

Amalfi or Torino?
Aura of Amalfi moved in with me quite early, together with the Tales of Torino.
Thanks to the pre-sale, they have been with me for some time now, and I have had the chance to test the fragrances repeatedly. I really liked the Tales of Torino. I also like the Aura of Amalfi, but Torino remains my favorite.

Aura of Amalfi has a fresh, aquatic vein with sweet undertones. Over time, it even gains creamy and "warm" facets. The scent gives me a certain shower gel vibe.
This shower gel is quite, quite good, but somehow it has slight hints of that. I must admit I hoped not to get such vibes.
Why? Because by now, many summer fragrances have this shower gel vibe, and I have slowly become a bit tired of it.
That doesn't mean I think it's bad now!

After the scent starts with this aquatic freshness, it shifts over time into a sweet, warm direction with creamy nuances. At least, that's my personal feeling on my skin.
The fruity notes come across relatively subtly.
They are there, but not particularly expressive. The pepper adds some edges and contours, while still remaining totally smooth and pleasant.

As already mentioned, the scent gains warm undertones.
The fragrance becomes creamier and also woodier. The sandalwood makes its presence felt. Additionally, the scent even takes on almost powdery accents.
Suspicious signs of cashmere, hehe.

The crazy thing about Aura of Amalfi for me personally was that it smelled completely different on the test strip compared to my skin, really totally different. On the test strip, the scent struck me as purely aquatic and fresh. Even for a long time!
On my skin, however, it is the case at first, but after a relatively short time (about 5-10 minutes), you can directly sense the creamy undertones. You immediately notice that the scent is changing.

Performance-wise, it’s the same for me as with the Tales of Torino. They don’t seem to work well on my skin. I rarely have this problem with Birkholz otherwise. However, these two new fragrances seem to have issues with my skin. The Aura of Amalfi appears very strong and powerful on the vaporizer. It also lasted a long time on the test strip.
Unfortunately, my skin doesn’t want to cooperate!

Unisex?
Definitely!

A Juicy Melon on the Beach of Amalfi
Imagine biting into a cold, juicy-sweet honeydew melon while sitting with your feet in the water by the pool, the sun warming your skin. That's exactly how Aura of Amalfi smells.

I have tested several fragrances from Birkholz. Some completely captivated me (Royal Amber, Nights in Noto, Portraits of Portofino), while others were not really my thing (Bordeaux, Corsica). Now, here’s another fresh-fruity scent from the Italian Collection. For those who know Portraits of Portofino: take out the citrus and replace it with juicy-sweet melon. Add the somewhat unpleasant fresh synthetic note from Corsica, and you have the new fragrance. I especially find the opening really great; the melon is incredibly intense and well-executed. Then the fresh note takes over … and holds … and holds … and holds. One spray on the test strip and I can still smell it next to me two days later. For a freshie, that’s brutal. However, I somehow get headaches from the note over time, similar to Corsica or Fico di Amalfi?

Overall, I tend towards Portraits of Portofino, which seems less synthetic to me in the long run. Nevertheless, a great release, just at the wrong time of year. The fragrance needs 30 degrees and sunshine!

First white floral, then distinctly aquatic. Well done, original in the combination, but for the price, it doesn't quite spark.

Although probably meant as a summer scent and beautiful for that, it also works wonderfully on a cool autumn morning...love

The honeydew melon is amazing. Unfortunately, it has a base of fresh men's shower gel... Too masculine for me.

Not bad, but like every other fruity fresh designer scent from the drugstore.
Polo est. 67 Eau de Toilette at a higher price.
