a floating flower island in aquamarine blue
It looks wonderful, the woman sitting there in her white corset dress, the wide lace skirt elegantly draped, stretching her arms, completely devoted to the moment, high above her head: In her hands, a delicate white stole flutters in the lively breeze.
So she sits now, on her floating island of colorful flowers and dark green, surrounded by the aquamarine blue sea, where white wave crests form the boundary to the lightly clouded light blue summer sky.
I am delighted and have to keep looking at this advertisement, this poster over and over again.
For it is an advertisement. Advertising from the house of Revlon for the fragrance "Aquamarine," signed with: "The classic of all floral fragrances."
If I feel this way today, how seductive must that impression have been back then, shortly after the war ("Aquamarine" was released in 1946)!
Flowers, flowers, and more flowers: generously right from the start!
A multitude of fragrant lilies and freesias, enhanced by aldehydes, meet here with the not overly dominant fruity freshness of bergamot and other citrus fruits.
My feeling tells me that pomerans are also present.
What a beautiful, balanced opening for a fragrance with the name of a precious gemstone.
A hint of clove fits perfectly here with the floral richness of the prominent freesias.
A fine trail leads to the pleasant scent of rose beauties and the white floral abundance of jasmine in dark green foliage, enhancing the sensory impressions, caressing the senses.
Ylang Ylang with its unique honey aroma opens them up for an additional, very pleasant dose of honey, refined and spicy, perfumed with galbanum.
Not sweet and sticky at all, but noble, golden, and skillfully rounding off the previous arrangement.
This splendid flower island also needs a base on which it can unfold. This is very familiar to us; the classic three: dark, earthy patchouli, vetiver, and sandalwood with a slightly animalistic, masculine touch come together with the intention of awakening our senses through gentle eroticism. It succeeds!
None of this is extraordinary, perhaps only the skillful combination of these fragrance notes, to which oak moss, robust as usual, joins.
We experience an unexpected highlight in this already saturated fabric of the base through the aromatic spiciness of tobacco!
Tobacco, large leaves and delicate flower clusters, in a floral women's fragrance - magnificent, a special delight!
But now we dive into a sensual, warm embrace of vanilla and tonka bean, both immediately flirting with the stranger tobacco: This menage à trois excellently complements this artistic fragrance fabric.
Amber closes this exquisite fragrance composition beautifully; the final scent chorus envelops precious and quite enduringly, with the different fragrance notes intertwining anew, creating an elegant work of fragrance art.
"Aquamarine": Not necessarily everybody's darling, but a work of fragrance art that ennobles many a day.
And now and then, we need these extraordinary days that shine just for us.
