Cedar Chic Carolina Herrera 2025

Y’all, I can’t even lie, the FOMO got me good and well with this one. With the way everyone has been foaming at the mouth over this perfume, you’d think the “clean girl aesthetic” was coined and created with this fragrance. But I’ll keep my review cordial and honest.

Cedar Chic, a bit of misnomer honestly, is a fresh, musk and aldehyde scent, sharpened by florals and citrus. The cedarwood is there, but it’s not as prominent as it could be. It does come out more so as the fragrance dries down, but overall, it’s not the main player in this composition. The musk and aldehydes are definitely more of the focus of this laundry-style scent. The fragrance itself is pretty, polite, and very tamed. It doesn’t really add anything new or different to the plethora of “clean girl” scents that already exist out there. For what it offers, it’s extremely expensive. In my humble opinion, there are way better scents within this category (Musc K, "1957 | Chanel" (my FAV!), 724 Eau de Parfum, Aldehyde 44, etc.) that offer much more even with the high price tags.

Unfortunately, CC isn’t the best performer either. The sillage doesn’t last for more than 3-4 hours, and it’s faint by hour 6. I never ever want to “yuck on someone’s yum”, but I am really not understanding the hype on this one at all. I’ve tested it on three separate times over the past few days and each time, I am underwhelmed. Hard to believe this is apart of Carolina Herrara’s private line, but I guess this is for those that really want opulence for a pretty penny.

As a bit of context I absolutely love the Herrera Confidential Line and I own six of this line, with Sirocco Leather on the way soon too. I just think they are beautifully composed, ultra high quality, niche type fragrances in gorgeous designer bottles. Cedar Chic is easily the most hyped of this line and is renowned for being hard to get because it is being released, Rolex-style, in small numbers so you have to do your homework and some legwork as well to get hold of a bottle. I actually ordered it twice and been refunded it twice as they didn't have the stock. I've been making do with a 5ml decant and a 2ml tester but today I finished them both so it is time to take the plunge I think.

Right from the off, the opening is a nicely-blended, very sunny burst of very powdery bergamot, aldehydes and musk. I have never seen a brighter and more effervescent musk and the way the aldehydes and fresh citruses lift this is amazing to witness on your skin. The bergamot bows out gracefully after 30 minutes and is replaced with a sweeter orange blossom floral that gives me distinct iris or orris vibes. There aren't any in this but it has that powdery sweet richness in its character. Think "musky, white powdery iris" and you get a vibe for how the aldehydes, musk, florals and citruses work here, even though there is no iris in it. The musk softens a white cedarwood base that serves as an anchor to stop this floating away into the yonder.

I continue to also be impressed with the performance. Cedar Chic is a crowd pleasing powerhouse that sort of demands you overspray it a little bit. It does come off you in summer breezes of sillage and has such a distinct, narrow feel to it that it is immediately recognisable when you meet someone wearing it. I get a solid 8 hours from this.

It is feminine. There is no getting around that. I just think there is something gorgeous about that clean sheets aldehydes vibe on a guy like me, especially in the Dubai heat. This is a white polo/t-shirt and shorts/jeans kind of casual wearer to me; a meaningful alternative to blue, aquatic or citruses for warm weather. Time to buy a bottle!

Layering combination: Durga by DS & Durga to push those orange blossom and cedarwood accords whilst retaining that musk context.

This is quite possibly the best perfume I've ever tried. It's fresh crisp laundry and orange blossom. As a lover of laundry and orange blossom scents this is perfection. The scent alone receives a 10/10 from me. Combining my 2 favourite notes in perfumery AND executing it perfectly. The hype is well deserved. It being incredibly hard to get your hands on is another story...

It's bright, fresh, clean, and a little woody. A true masterpiece and it completely exceeded my expectations. Cedar chic makes for a great daily fragrance, friendly enough to wear to the office, and will fit for any season any time of day. It feels sophisticated, pretty, fresh and feminine.

Cedar Chic is pleasant in small doses, but it’s not worth the hype or price for me. I get white florals, soap and clean sheets. I actually find the flowery/soapiness of this scent quite overbearing and nauseating. To me this is very similar to Isles Lointaines which I much prefer over this as its airier and doesn’t have that heavy aldehyde soap vibe this one has. I do find Cedar Chic long lasting, especially on fabrics. I wouldn't say it’s a crowd pleaser, as it’s a stomach turner for me. Overall this is nice, nothing wow and quite forgettable.

It opens up just like the top notes listed. Very aldehydic and slightly synthetic with bright bergamot and clean creamy notes. But if there’s one thing my skin is going to do, is pull on white florals and make them the centerpiece. So once this perfume settles into the skin, the blossom shines through and it becomes a floral soap, honeyed and sharply clean. It has a very slight dustiness and dryness from wood, but I wouldn’t say that cedar or wood in general are the main star here.

To me, not saying they’re the same, but this perfume is related to something like Existence as it can be an intense white floral fragrance. I will say though, Cedar Chic is not as strong of a powerhouse though it has good longevity.
I thought of blind buying this because the bottle along with the story behind it fits what I usually go for, but it just turned out to be too much of a white floral bomb for my taste.
