Classy, evocative, requires a light touch
A very distinct scent - one that I'm still not sure about and is leaning towards my "incredible, impressive, but not quite for me" pile.
There's something very alluring about Opsis. It's a refined, classy musk and I very almost love it. One thing I know for certain is that it's one that I enjoy more in retrospect than I do in the moment of wearing it; I was enchanted the first time I tried it, though the second time I was very much oversprayed by the lady at the desk and this may have tainted it for me - so, top tip, this only requires a wee spritz!
As a gentle accent and in the drydown, it's really something. Opsis is marketed as "a scent that captures the electrifying atmosphere of an evening at the theatre in 1920s London" which it wholeheartedly succeeds at. It's slightly bougey, old fashioned, but confident and alluring. Very evocative, very classy. The iris is light but the smoky incense note is what really makes it stand out. It's moreish - a scent that really tugs at your curiosity.
I love a unisex, lightly femme fragrance but I do think this one leans more femme than some of Diptyque's other releases. I may yet change my mind, but right now I think the heavy and powdery aspect is a tad too strong, and I would have liked just a touch of something fresh, but this is one that others will surely love :)
