80's era "sport"
Yes I like this but, nope, not really a "Sport" scent to me, maybe I've grown accustomed to 90's and newer sport fragrances that are pretty much aldehyde/citrus/marine note bombs.

This shows its age in being such a strong oakmoss/lavender smeller.

I'm actually wearing this as I write and cannot help but picture a barbershop and shaving cream products.

It's a classic, maybe for the over 30 crowd, nice projection and life on my epidermis.

A strange, flowery and slightly soapy fougere with tons of notes...
Reviewing the EdT : Boss Sport is dry and herbal and well rounded by the slight sweetness of the tonka. Blended with loads of different notes, but the marigold (or actually tagetes, the french marigold) mixed with oakmoss gives off a piney and "dirty" sensation and the juice itself has a thick, almost oily feel, that's how concentrated it is. It actually does come across as a little soapy.

I'm not really sure why you would call a flowery fougere "Sport", but in my memory this is kinda how "sporty" guys smelled back in the eighties, not the citrus/aquatic sweet scents of today but heavy on the oakmoss and kinda industrial cleaner-like - weird stuff really.
Most prominent notes are marigold, oakmoss, tarragon, sage, lavender, patchouli, geranium, vetiver and tonka. Unfortunately it gives me a slight headache wearing this, but definitely worth a try.

Projection is average on me, but longevity is great.

Nothing quite like it
We owned a disused pasture when I was young. Each summer it became overgrown with weeds, brush, and wildflowers, so a man came by to Bush-Hog it almost down to the dirt. The smell of that field being mowed on a hot Midwestern day is indescribable.

Boss Sport evokes that heady mix of fresh vegetation indiscriminately chopped down at the same time, and it's a thing of beauty.

Everything is Possible
There are simply ideal days for a particular fragrance. Today, for example, was one of those: sun-drenched, filled with warmth, spring is unfolding its splendor. And yet, you can still feel the freshness of the season. The first half of the day is marked for hours by the coolness of the night. A hint lingers in the air. On such days, Boss Sport is recommended.

I find the unpretentious appearance of this fragrance to be a breath of fresh air. Nothing feels forced here. Boss Sport caters to a spicy aromatic, green spectrum that presents itself as multifaceted yet transparent. The balancing act is consistently successful, even if the individual phases of the fragrance development are quite distinct.

The freshness is moderate and pleasant. In the first hours, a restrained sweetness emerges, skillfully providing variety. Later, mossy aspects prevail before the fragrance fades into a subtle bitterness.

1987, that feels like an eternity ago. I indulge in nostalgia, which tends to romanticize many things. And yet, I dare to claim: That was a great hit back then. Fresh, green, composed without fuss, definitive in its statement. A coherent concept that still convinces me today. Perfectly suited for early spring days when everything seems possible.

Laboss Sporginal
About two years ago, a member of Parfumo kindly sent me the Boss Sport as a miniature (see picture below). It immediately went into the acrylic display case, but a few days ago I finally wanted to write a review about it, so I first had to check how the scent still holds up.

I was surprised in two ways. On one hand, the already quite aged Boss Sport smelled as fresh as if it had just come from the store. No signs of any degradation whatsoever. On the other hand, I was instantly reminded of Lacoste Original, even though I last enjoyed that fragrance in its original version (I only know the reissue fleetingly) over 20 years ago. Nevertheless, the connection was immediate.

Boss Sport has exactly the same slightly sharp minty-citrusy opening, which, with its crisp freshness, is suitable for both scorching summer days and athletic activities.
However, here it deviates from the usual citrus waters and, with the numerous additional ingredients, forms a warm spicy base that makes it clear to everyone that it means business and has quality.

However, Boss is not necessarily a brand that immediately makes you think of sports. Accordingly, besides this offshoot, whose bottle design strikingly resembles Boss Number One, they have only released the inconsequential Boss Bottled Sport.

In contrast, Lacoste with Lacoste Original was far more authentic and thus managed to launch its arguably best fragrance. In comparison, its olfactory twin Boss Sport is almost forgotten...

Green, citrusy, spicy-fresh with tarragon, moss and woods. Aromatic and proudly masculine. A throwback to the 80s, when "sport” meant power.

Can anyone tell HUGO BOSS Group how excellent this fragrance is? Regrettably it has been discontinued, however it still has a huge audience.

Game, set, match: a legendary fragrance from the 80s, when 'Sport' still meant pure freshness: green-citrusy, woody-aromatic!

The better Number One. Fresh citrusy-spicy, lots of tarragon, soft woody base. Embodies pure masculinity and the spirit of the 80's.

Vintage acquired, sprayed on, flashback. Back then, sports were just like this: with chest hair and a mustache! Awesome and unique!
