Mrs XX is Quite Wonderful

This one took me by surprise, literally! Based on the modern ad campaign and bottle design I expected a fruity fresh crowd-pleaser. But when I sampled this I was blown away at the almost vintage beauty this scent unfolds on my skin! It's definitely in the league of Fragile and/or Sensi.

On me, the rose, jasmine and something sweet but not cloying (black currant?) is making this a beautiful and elegant perfume with a velveteen-smooth amber base that only enhances it. The bottle is misleading, this darling is elegant with a vintage vibe and should be in an elegant and feminine looking flacon, not in a modern sporty bottle. But the bigger your surprise when you test it!

Silage is: "wonderful whiffs of slightly sweet flowers and sensual yum" -- Longevity is: an amazing 8+ hours in which it dries down to a warmer version of the fresh opening and the rich smelling middle stage. YUM!

Lacking the X-factor

Predictable, pleasant but boring, Hugo XX won't be getting any rave reviews from me.

This fragrance is so light that it takes a lot of sniffing and inhaling to even be able to describe what it smells like.

Hugo XX has quite a simple opening with blackcurrant being its most dominant note. It's fruity yet it lacks that fruity punch which would've given this scent more character.

The heart is just as bland and boring as its opening, with the jasmine and rose creating a scent which has been done and re-done many times before. The floral combination is soft and pretty, yet it has that all-to-familiar soapy quality which I really dislike.

I never got to the drydown because this fragrance disappeared in only 30 minutes. It's possibly the worst lasting scent I've come across so far. I don't recommend this fragrance unless you like to be ordinary.

My dear colleague recently came around the corner with a box.
You like perfume, right? I have a few bottles here that I bought over time and some of them I never used. Take a look! Otherwise, I will throw everything away!

So I did, and took the box home. There was quite a variety inside.
Among other things, there were perfumes that had turned and were in not-so-nice colors in the bottle, that just by a quick sniff at the spray head almost made me lose my hearing and sight. I bravely tested some, but the maggot note lingered stubbornly. Sorted out.

And there was also a half-full bottle from Boss with XX. Doesn't ring a bell for me.
Boss XX EdP starts off really nicely summery fruity and puts me in a good mood! A lovely mandarin and lychee, I wouldn't have picked out the blackcurrant so easily. Unfortunately, the top note doesn't last as long as I would like, because I find the fruits to be zesty and summery, but by no means too intrusive.
Once the scent settles, a mild rose and such an incredibly beautiful creamy note come to the surface, a little dream. Although I am always a bit cautious with jasmine, everything blends wonderfully together, nothing is intrusive or too much.
I perceive this subtly fruity-floral scent for several hours, even though the fragrance settles relatively quickly and doesn't have a very strong sillage. But that doesn't matter at all. Especially when it's warmer outside, you can wear the scent without being over-perfumed.
In the soft, purring base, a rather sweet amber and a restrained musk dominate, yet the fine rose and the creaminess remain subtly in the background. Very fine!

Throw away?? Seriously?!
This one stays with me, I really enjoy wearing it. I removed the layer of dust and uncovered a little treasure.
A sensual feminine aura surrounds the scent, I believe it is no longer produced as EdP.
Which is really a shame, because it always hits the mark, I am already looking forward to wearing it in the fall.
Then I will have a very nice summer memory of a bottle that I saved from the trash can!

My daughter has snatched up two other rather sweet scents, and I found another Burberry that we fought over. I won, she already has the girly scents :-)

Subtle Femininity

~ Inspiration ~
I think the Hugo Boss fragrances are great. You can wear them anytime and anywhere. As soon as a new scent is released, I want to try it out.

~ Bottle ~
Simple yet present.
The nude tones match very well with the gentle fragrance. The gold accents add a touch of elegance.

~ Scent ~
Feminine, delicate, and loving.
A subtle, understated fragrance that has a positive effect on me. The floral nuances are perfectly rounded off with very restrained fruity and slightly spicy notes.

~ Longevity ~
On my skin, it lasts well, about 8 hours (longer on clothing/hair). A few small sprays are already sufficient.

~ Occasion ~
With this perfume, you can never go wrong, anytime and anywhere. Not intrusive, subtle, yet still perceptible around you. Suitable for every season, any time of day, and for all ages.

Not for women looking for a bold and strong perfume.

~ Conclusion ~
I am thrilled with the scent!
It completes a well-groomed appearance and leaves a good impression on others. You can't go wrong with this perfume.

blue eyes

I bought XX because of the irresistible blue eyes of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, who stepped into the boxing ring with a female model in the commercial for this fragrance.
This rather dance-like fight was probably meant to symbolize the battle of the sexes. It certainly caught my attention.
However, XX is in no way aggressive, but very soft and feminine.
Lychee and mandarin provide a very fruity, fresh entrance, and jasmine and rose are mildly sweet. A charming blend.
With amber, musk, and sandalwood, a touch of sex appeal is added.
But very subtle.
This fragrance is really more about a promotional dance than a fight.
Armed like this, I would have loved to step into the ring with blue-eyed Johnny.
