Shockingly versatile for leather lovers
After sampling this one at the mall, I was immediately captivated by the simplicity and polished feel of this fragrance. I ended up purchasing a bottle, and I'm quite pleased with this choice. While this fragrance is marketed as a Christmas scent, I can see myself wearing this far more often, as it's shockingly versatile. This fragrance is pretty linear, but is primarily based around leafy green notes and leather. The leather note here is absolutely spectacular, and smells exactly like fresh, high-quality leather, with just a supple sweetness added to it. The leather here is not animalic or dirty, but rather quite clean and polished, like a new leather coat or bag. It's layered over a very green accord that does have the scent of pine/fir trees to it, but has a bit of a more general leafy vibe as well that keeps it from smelling exclusively like Christmas. It's a great scent overall, and definitely on the more unique side of Jo Malone releases, though it's certainly unfortunate that this was a limited time offering. Hopefully they bring it back for future holiday seasons!
Overall, I'm pleased with Fir & Artemisia. It's raw, green and lightly sweet, and while it does have christmas-like undertones, I don't think I'd have any problem wearing this during other times of the year. If possible, I recommend picking up a decant/sample, or possibly even a full bottle of this fragrance, as it's a very good one to have around, especially for those who love leather notes!
