LVEB in an oriental powder veil
The LVEB DNA is unmistakably present and if you absolutely don't like it, you probably don't even need to try LVEB L'Extrait.
In my opinion, the original LVEB is an underrated, misunderstood fragrance on this platform, whose DNA creates an extreme, gourmand sweetness that hardly any other fragrance has ever achieved. Personally, I don't like the original LVEB on myself because of its extreme sweetness, but I do like smelling it on others.
Imagine the sweet-floral-gourmand LVEB in a huge cloud of powder, paired with dark, woody oriental and a very subtle, pure, citrusy incense note in the background. That's how I perceive the fragrance.
For me, LVEB L'Extrait is a worthy successor to my beloved Manifesto L'Elixir. The scent type is very similar, although the notes are very different. My argument is that both fragrances share the following characteristics: Sweet, floral, powdery, oriental, gourmand, woody and minimally spicy. Even with a lot of imagination, I smell little to nothing of the oud. The fragrance still has a woody, dark note, but for me it tends more towards sandalwood and cashmere wood (cedar, ambergris, musk, vanilla), as in the previously mentioned Manifesto L'Elixir.
I am also reminded of Armani Code Satin. On the one hand, due to the cocoa and praline traces, on the other hand, this is also due to the similar fragrance type. If you have any doubts here, please take a look at the pie chart of the fragrance type of both fragrances side by side.
In my opinion, LVEB L'Extrait has more similarities to the equally powdery flankers Iris Absolu and LVEB Blanche than to the original LVEB. All three flankers have the iris-heavy powdered sugar note in common, which I love very much. If you liked those flankers, you'll probably also like LVEB L'Elixir.
The sillage is quite decent and easily perceptible from the surrounding area. Due to the gourmand sweetness, the fragrance is very inviting and cozy, so I would not wear it at work or on occasions where a certain distance is desired. On the other hand, this fragrance is perfect for the evening, going out or leisure occasions. The fragrance works well against cold temperatures and probably unfolds best in cold spring, fall and winter.
It lasts for 8 hours on my skin, after which I like to spray it on again. On clothing and fabric, it lasts well over 24 hours.
The bottle is one of the most beautiful in my collection with its copper to rose gold sheen. The Lancôme rose engraved on the lid is particularly eye-catching.
The fragrance quality is good and I would classify it as upmarket designer. More oud would have given the fragrance more of a niche character, but would probably have made it more interesting for a narrower audience and catapulted it out of favor for me. Not everyone can make friends with the fungus-infested wood from the Orient. If there really is oud in here, it is contained in a concentration that is very pleasant for me as a self-confessed oud despiser.
For me, a successful variation of the beloved and hated LVEB EdP.
