Tea Escape: Review 11
After a productive morning of stressful tasks to clean around the house,
you finally feel the weight fading off your shoulders as you sip away to a cup of milky green tea complimented with a bowl of steaming jasmine rice,
as you sit down on your cozy couch next to the glass wall overlooking the rainy forest during Japanese monsoon season.

Cozy, lactonic green puffy rice tea. 9/10
Yearning for a full bottle, unfortunately this is discontinued and is extremely expensive.

Smooth creamy tea
It seems like there are two camps regarding this perfume: heavy bitter mint or creamy matcha tea. I'm in the tea camp. I really don't pick up on the mint note or the bergamot unless I'm looking for those. On me, what I mainly get for the entirety of wearing this, is a milky matcha latte. The rice note is definitely there and mixed with the slight sweetness and milkiness I end up thinking of a matcha flavored rice pudding but not cloying or overly sweet. It leans more on the purely matcha tea side than any plain green tea because there's an earthy quality that can only be matched by a good matcha tea powder. The pepper seems to come forward a little more as it dries down but the creamy note from the milk keeps this from being sharp and bitter as some other pepper fragrances can get. The jasmine also comes pretty forward as it dries and tends to stick around, but it's a soft jasmine that feels like it's sitting a little lower down.

I think it's a nice skin scent. Sillage isn't fantastic and it's quite delicate so I wouldn't say it's strong enough that people will smell you immediately or for hours and hours, but it's safe and refreshing and perfect for a spring or summer day. I guess I'm not that into really creamy scents, nor am I a fan of such a delicate scent but I'm glad I got the chance to try this out.

Concentrated Tea Shop Aroma Box
As is common with tea scents, Tea Escape starts with bergamot and mint. This is very refreshing, juicy, very cheerful, and you can't go wrong with it.
Flowers underscore the whole thing with floral sweetness, specifically jasmine and osmanthus here.

This is very clever, and it certainly impresses my tea seller's heart. Because jasmine is a very traditional tea flower; it was actually the first flower used in China to naturally flavor green tea. The jasmine flowers are picked and dried, then mixed with the tea leaves and left to infuse their scent into the tea. Afterward, the jasmine flowers are sifted out. Fun fact: unlike jasmine tea intended for the European market, it is considered a flaw in China if any flowers are still visible in the tea. We Germans, however, like colorful splashes, so the flowers are often not sifted out. Osmanthus has also been used as a tea flavoring flower for a very long time - even though this variation is less known here. Using osmanthus is even doubly clever because its naturally apricot-like honey scent perfectly emphasizes the powdery peachiness that is characteristic of green tea.

That being said,
I unfortunately do not smell the green tea.
I have no doubt that it is there, but it is overshadowed by all the aroma.

The scent wants a lot; it simply cannot decide.
Is it a Chinese jasmine tea?
Is it a Gui Ha Sweet Osmanthus?
Is it a green Earl Grey?
Is it a Moroccan mint tea?
All I ultimately smell is a floral-fruity summer perfume, and the emphasis is on 'perfume'. Because tea is usually flavored EITHER with jasmine OR with osmanthus OR with bergamot OR with mint, but not with everything together. And milk does not really fit the scent profile of the zesty-fresh bergamot and only partially with the flowers.

The milk would have been great if the tea had been allowed to shine as a single note. Or if a more suitable aroma had been chosen, something more in the gourmand direction. For example, Green Tea Vanilla with milk or Green Tea Caramel with milk or Green Tea Walnut with milk.

It still smells delicious. The puffed rice brings an exciting, slightly roasted note. And once again, I must say, very clever! This reminds me of teas like Genmaicha Tokiwa, a green tea with roasted rice and roasted corn (essentially popcorn), which is popular in Japan. However, Genmaicha has a completely different flavor profile, grainy-roasted, as you can surely imagine. The milk would have paired well with that too.

All the individual notes make total sense for a tea scent! So someone has indeed sat down and thought a lot about it. But all the notes together come across as a scent that feels arbitrary, which is really a shame. It does smell good, but it could just as well be a fruity floral from Escada.

Special Tea
Replica, a fragrance line that I actually want to comment on more than I do. Because there are quite a few interesting scents from this brand or Maison Margiela, but at the turquoise counters, where many of these fragrances are, I often find myself already fully sprayed by the time I get to these scents.

Strangely enough, these fragrances are in the women's section, and I really shouldn't be sprayed at all, since I tend to be a bit shy about women's fragrances, as you know! On the other hand, it's always something different when you know the people there and they spray you, almost whether you want it or not :D And besides, there are many other wonderful scents that aren’t available everywhere, and many are unisex, so I was able to test this fragrance amidst the world of women he he he.

Anyway, I managed to keep one arm free recently. I had already tried the scent a few times, but it was time to comment on it as well. The fact that this Replica fragrance happens to contain tea is irrelevant to why I chose this particular one :D
Honestly! :D

The Scent:
The scent is somehow more difficult to describe. At first, it smells quite different from what is indicated in the top notes. It has a rather herbal-spicy quality to it, and possibly something nutty and even smoky. It’s somewhat dry, but nice, reminiscent of (don’t laugh now :D) sunflower seed (oil) or something like that!
Only gradually do you start to smell the lovely mint. It has something lively, something authentic about it, but due to the herbal background, it doesn’t smell refreshing, even though the scent should still be relatively fresh, or let’s say more summery. I think the spiciness, which also has a slightly sweet scent, should be the pink pepper, while the sweetness could also come from the jasmine, as this stands out a bit more later on.
In the heart note, you can finally smell the beautiful green tea, which has a very authentic scent, including the slight tickle in the throat that you sometimes get when drinking green tea… do you know that feeling too?
I’m not sure about the puffed rice and the milk accord. It could also be that these notes make the scent so spicy, nutty, or something like that, especially at the beginning… hmm… milk accord… NO! I don’t want any milk in my tea… um… oops… I almost shout that out automatically when I read tea and milk in the same context :DD
*böööörks*
Anyway, at the end, you still smell green tea, now also clearly together with a slightly powdery mate tea note, which I also find very nice. Two tea notes in one fragrance, yeah! :)

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is still quite okay at the beginning, but unfortunately gets weaker towards the base. I would have preferred if especially the tea notes had projected a bit stronger in the base. The longevity is above average and lasts about six to seven hours.

The Bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and filled with a beautiful green fragrance liquid. On the front, there is a large white label where you can see not only the fragrance name but also the fragrance contents. And as usual, the interesting part is that the label looks like it was typed on a typewriter.
The spray head is chrome-plated and surrounded by white dew or rope. There is no cap. It looks simple, but still interesting.

Aah, I’m somehow torn. I do like tea fragrances (oh really…!) and therefore find this scent quite nice. But it has a strangely specific opening note that doesn’t smell bad and is thus something different that you don’t often get to smell in many fragrances. It’s strange that the scent itself is fresh and thus appears summery, but on the other hand, the specific note seems a bit more autumnal due to the herbal-bitter-resinous notes (as I said, it’s a bit hard to describe). These notes don’t remain as intense as at the beginning, but can still be smelled in the base (albeit significantly weaker).

Aside from that, I think it’s great that you can smell two different, delicious tea notes here. Namely green tea and mate, with the latter making the scent pleasantly soft and almost slightly powdery. I believe Tea Escape is one of those fragrances that I need to try more extensively as a sample to see if it’s worth purchasing a bottle (not to mention that it’s actually a women’s fragrance!).

I’m not sure if this scent is suitable for midsummer; in any case, it’s not for very hot days. But for spring, late summer, and autumn, it’s a lovely companion, both for daily wear and for going out, although going out here means less partying and more meeting someone, going out for food/drinks, etc…

Hmm… Tea Escape is, as I said, a very interesting fragrance that should be tried, which applies to most Replica fragrances.

Milk Tea with Effort
"Tea Escape" is a vacation for the soul, its name does not promise too much. Sweet rice pudding meets relaxing mate tea... it works! I am neither a big tea pro nor a fan of the rather prominent jasmine here, but I am never too shy for a fine tea test.

Airy, light, high-quality, and affordable - "Tea Escape" reminds me of "Teazzura" by Guerlain mixed with the Bulgari tea line, most closely the white variant. "Tea Escape" starts (after a super quick mint burst) slightly fluffy and spicy, here I feel the creamy milk nuances on my skin the best. But soon the dominant, namesake tea joins in and surprisingly lingers for a long time. Green tea, black tea, delicious tea. Pure relaxation, swaying and dreaming away. A hammock scent. No matter how much you sweat in the midsummer heat. It transports you from the stuffy, overcrowded tram directly to a subtly luxurious spa in a suburb of Mumbai. Rather feminine.

Bottle: unique and solid. The price remains a highlight!
Sillage: very relaxed and unexcited... fits the scent
Longevity: after 5 hours maximum it's time for a re-spray alarm!

Conclusion: for fans of tea scents, a feel-good oasis of mate and milk, of friendliness and lightness, of being and dreaming. Indian and in the now. Due to a strong jasmine overtone, I personally have some minus points.

Dry, herbaceous-green-anise scent that feels chalky and stale to me. Over time, a sweet powdery note emerges.

Light and slightly sweet tea scent with a hint of mint, reminds me a lot of Teazzurra by Guerlain!
