The best clone so far.
So having tried Aventus, hacivat, mont blanc explorer, CDNIM and L'aventure...Dua 11z is the best one FOR ME. This is smokey like CDNIM but much more high quality and doesnt go bad in the drydown. CDNIM has a super earthy overly dominating patchouli 2 hours in and im really tired of it. Dua however is smoke, green cooling pine tree, apple, pineapple, bergamot and MUSK. Stays like this until its gone, about 8 hours or so id say. Very stable and high quality. Definitely recommend this smells great all season but shines in the summer!

And Aventus can actually please me...
Everyone is probably familiar with the hype surrounding Aventus and the discussions about different batches. The new ones are said to be nothing special, while the old ones were really good. Sometimes they are smokier, sometimes fruitier, sometimes long-lasting, sometimes fleeting. But what does that actually mean in practice? And the most important question: Do I like it?

Since trying is better than studying, I got myself a bottle of Aventus. It was a 2019 batch, which was considered quite fruity. I began the scent test. Pineapple! I can smell that right away. Smoky? I can't perceive that. Birch is mentioned more often. Hmm, not really. And do I like it? It's not bad, but is this really the "legendary" Aventus that everyone talks about? I was disappointed.

But I didn't want to give up on the topic so quickly. This is just one batch. Maybe there's something to the discussion. I got more, older samples, especially the smoky ones. And indeed, they smelled different. I would even say, completely different. The pineapple was still noticeable, but the smoky scent actually pushed itself to the forefront. However, it didn't become more pleasant for me because of that. But at least I could now understand the spectrum from fruity to smoky. Unfortunately, this was not the case with the birch. I still couldn't smell that. Overall, however, I didn't find any version that, in my opinion, justified the hype surrounding this fragrance. Aventus was thus categorized as "Nice to have" but not "Essential".

Cut.

Spring 2021. Why are so many fragrances from Dua Fragrances offered in the souk? I don't know anything about it. A question worth investigating. So I studied threads in the forum, read reviews and statements about the fragrances, and examined the website. There was talk of the revival of discontinued fragrances. Of replicas of current fragrances with improved longevity. That the replicated fragrances were very accurately captured. Interesting. That’s worth testing! A quick order was placed, and despite shipping from the USA, several bottles of Dua arrived at my place within a week. Among them: Poseidon's Elixir 11Z.

Poseidon's Elixir 11Z. Inspired by the 2011 Z01 batch of Aventus. So a really early version from the year after its release. As early as I could get no sample before. The website mentions an opening with masculine birch. A veil of smoke and, of course, pineapple.

For the first test, I chose a day when I spent time both indoors and outdoors. I sprayed three sprays - on both wrists and the back of my neck. And I became aware of two things:
1. So this is what birch smells like.
2. A lot of birch, paired with a bit of pineapple, rounded off by just a hint of smoke - this really smells good!
The woody birch actually gives the fragrance a pleasantly masculine character. This is successfully contrasted by the fruity pineapple. This makes the scent fresher and more mass-appealing. The smoky component adds a bit of maturity but does not dominate like in other batches. A versatile fragrance, definitely usable as a signature scent. It fits just as well in leisure time as in the office. However, for the latter, I would recommend a maximum of 2 sprays, as projection and longevity are very strong. The morning after wearing it, I could still clearly smell it on my wrists. I had to wash them off to be ready for a new scent. And even that only helped to some extent; I still perceived it in one spot in the afternoon.

So Dua has achieved what Creed could not: I now like Aventus! At least if you believe Dua's claims. After all, I have never smelled a real 2011 batch of Aventus. But Poseidon's Elixir 11Z is definitely pleasing. A fragrance I want to smell again and again, plus monster performance, and maybe just a tiny bit of satisfaction in being able to somewhat understand the hype now.

Very helpful Review 10
Finally! Thx, Dua!
Aventus had a really rough start for me. Some time more than five years ago - and well before my "being" here - I officially got a sample from ALzD. The scent was fresh and very, very smoky - the birch was wallowing in its tar and that was it for me. Not my type. Much later, I learned about batches and variations. But that didn't rekindle my interest, rather it sparked my curiosity. Just imagine if I had liked the scent in the sample. And with the order, I would have received some other scent. Like every batch. So, a lottery. With very high stakes.

Well, that was spared for me, and last year I found pleasure in Floris' 1976, Loewe's Esencia EDP, and also Roja's Elysium. The latter didn't stay - the other two moved in.

Now, DUA has taken it upon themselves to make scents "available" again that have been discontinued, sold out, or lost in the countless batches. This includes Aventus 11Z01. It was supposed to be fruity and not very smoky. Extrait to boot. Well, I thought, why not?! And ordered blindly.

And to be honest: THANK YOU, DUA!

Because this scent has power and doesn't annoy me with birch and smoke. It is basically just fruity-fresh and keeps the birch along with the tar in check, way down low. It can participate, but it's more of a goalkeeper than a striker.

Thus, the pineapple plays subtly and doesn't turn a summer scent into a fruit cocktail. The scent is predominantly dominated for me by woody-fresh and citrus components. For more than 8 hours. And with that, it makes the leap into my collection.

And it somewhat rehabilitates its predecessor.

Although I still don't understand whether every new Aventus batch is actually a flanker or a problem with quality assurance. ;)

Freshly Tarred Forest Road After the Shower
Aventus.
A fragrance that divides opinions. A substance that sparks heated discussions. Batch codes, reformulations, natural ingredients - you name it.
I only own a sample of the aforementioned fragrance. There are more beautiful, even more valuable scents from Creed for me. Royal Oud, for example.
But neither the fragrance nor this brand is the focus here.

No, it’s about Poseidon’s Elixir 11Z.
I ordered it “blind” a few days ago. I know and like Aventus. No, it’s not necessarily love. But it’s a quite platonic liking. Since my sample is now running low, I had to either get a bottle of Aventus - which I had greater concerns about due to the ubiquitous discussions regarding longevity and ingredients, especially since the fragrance also carries a very proud price - or I would try DUA’s Poseidon’s Elixir 11Z, which is said to be very close to Aventus and, in terms of longevity, should even be worlds ahead of the original - at least if you believe the reviews on the DUA site.

So yesterday it arrived, my 11Z. Tested, sniffed, and found to be good:

Yes, very clearly: This is an Aventus clone. But what a clone it is!
The opening is, as with almost all DUA fragrances, an oily note that disappears within a few seconds, making way for the actual perfume. Here, the fragrance starts with a tremendous burst of freshness. Like an incredibly fresh men’s shower gel after a cold shower on a scorching summer day.
This freshness is accompanied by an almost bitter bergamot and freshly pressed fruits. Apple, yes. Pineapple, yes, but only subtly, very lightly in the background.
At this moment, a certain smokiness also sets in, which skillfully holds back and primarily allows the fresh notes to take the deserved lead in the opening.

Shortly after the opening, the birch comes in with a really nice punch. And yet it remains balanced, fresh, green, and at the same time woody. Like driving through a birch forest on a warm early summer day. The windows of the old diesel all the way down, there’s no air conditioning. You sweat a little. But just a little. Rock music is playing in the car, the bass turned all the way up. You can perceive the diesel, but only very subtly. The scenario is now dominated by the green, blooming birch forest. The olfactory experience is accompanied by the fresh men’s shower gel and the aftershave of my buddies sitting in the car with me.

I have to brake. A construction site in the middle of the forest.
“Dude, you could have just stayed on the highway!” my buddy sitting next to me mutters, still smelling a bit of rose and jasmine from his girlfriend’s perfume.
The forest road is probably getting freshly tarred again. It was about time.
The construction workers give us the green light, we can slowly pass the road. I still smell the birch forest, but now the sweat of the workers and the freshly tarred road join in. At first, it’s quite strong and penetrating, a moment later it becomes less and just smells breathtakingly good.

With all these fragrance notes in the car, we drive to the next city. I drop off my buddies and pick up my girlfriend from work.
When she gets in, she says, “God, it smells amazing in here, what is that?”
I just grin, drive on, and roll up the windows to capture the scent for a moment longer.
“Come on, just tell me, what is it?” she asks again, this time a bit more insistently.
I keep grinning, drive my brand-new SUV onto the highway, and reply:

“Poseidon’s Elixir 11Z.”
When she looks at me questioningly, I add: “You know... DUA!”

A Spicy Alternative!
The DUA opens relatively deep! slightly smoky, slightly green, fresh and bittersweet/spicy. The bergamot or pineapple does not play a direct leading role here for the first time. Therefore, the DUA appears less sporty compared to today's original but somehow more mature. I have exposed my nose to many diverse OG batches (yes, batch talk is annoying... okay... but there are simply differences) of the original and must admit I have not smelled such an Aventus before! The DUA really has something! Whether the 11Z in the OG actually smells like this, I cannot judge; if so, it has not much in common with the later variants, in a positive sense. Conclusion: Masculine, fresh, bitter and elegant, this scent comes across. A suit fits perfectly in the office. Very well done. H/S are above average. TOP!

So far the best Aventus dupe by far. But at 60 dollars for 30ml, one wonders if it wouldn't be better to just buy the original...

Not as fruity as Aventus, yet the same fragrance DNA. The longevity is definitely better than the original. Worth a try!

Brilliant Aventus dupe with strong sillage. Great scent composition, subtly smoky, subtly spicy. Very balanced, masculine, and mature. Top!

Pineapple, pineapple, who stole the pineapple? It was Dua 11Z! Totally awesome fruity Aventus dupe with strong H/S. The birch is also around the corner.

Am I the only one who smells cucumber??? I've known a few batches from 2010-2014, but Aventus never smelled like this.

Unfortunately, the sillage and longevity are not what I hoped for. The scent is definitely one of the better clones of Aventus.

It's like a fresh, cold breeze on your face. Smoky with many fresh green notes. Only slightly Aventus-like. A bit like cucumber water.

Dua vs. Feb 2020 Aventus: Stronger and more distinct. A bit less floral and sweet, yet still high-quality. Somewhat fruitier and spicier!
