The most you’ll spend on smelly water

The most you’ll spend on smelly water 1

What’s the most money you all would spend on a single fragrance?

I once bought a 50 ml bottle for $165 (it was from a small business, I sampled it extensively first, and it was my birthday). Nowadays, I can’t justify spending over $100 for a 50 or 100 ml perfume, even if I love it.

My most expensive one was 275€ for 50ml. I’ll never (never say never, I know I know) spend that kind of money again.

I find 100-150 great prices for 30-50ml bottles.

Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic 550€ for 50ml

Oud Jasmin 750€ for 100ml

None of them are worth it.

Same. I don't exceed $100.

2

As one big purchase, I spent 150ish$ on my 80ml bottle of Concrete. But I also own several Tom Ford decants which are more than twice as expensive if we count the price per ml rather than total cost. I just try not to think about that (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

I would be surprised if I ever saw myself spend more than $100. I feel like I would be happy to invest in a pricer fragrance, but I think spending more than that would take the fun out of it and compromise my fragrance experience. Even my most expensive ones in my collection, Bohemian Lime and Sweet Diamond Pink Pepper | 25, I bought off other people on Mercari and paid $80 and $65 to shave off some dollars.

My sort of self-imposed limit is $500, but that's only because I've never tried anything over that price that is worth it to me. But I've spent over $400 quite a few times (Vanille Havane Coeur de Oud, Outlands, Oud Extrait de Parfum, Oud Indochine)

Probably 90 dollars.

I have a self imposed limit of £100: the bottle that came closest to that was Myslf Le Parfum 60ml, though that's partly because I bought it in store along with an annual membership that would get me two discounts on future bottles.

2

probably around 100 USDish converting to local currency, I mainly buy samples of more expensives one as of now and if I really will wear it a loot then I'll buy it.

The most I'd spend, in a situation where I'd already paid all my bills, would be somewhere in the ballpark of 240 CAD. Probably off of a discounter or secondhand, say if I were getting a bottle of something that normally cost $400ish, then I'd hop on it if I'd already sampled and loved it.

I think the most I *have* spent on one bottle was about 140 CAD, full price at a boutique- the service was really spectacular and I'd had the bottle (Imaginary Authors O Unknown) on my wishlist for a while anyway...

Same here, for me my limit is approx 500€. I bought a few bottles for that price or more and I must admit that I struggle wearing them because of the price. I have a huge mental blockage about it.

Those 500€ + fragrances that I own are :

- Vega Eau de Toilette (I wont even say how much I paid for it as it is complete madness and I am ashamed of it)

- Iris Pallida Extrait 6

- Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21

- Myrrhe & Délires (rare and discontinued)

It is only smelly water, that we might never have the opportunity to use completely. Those fragrances might go bad and the money will go wasted.

Thinking about it, 500€ is more than some countrys' minimum monthly way. And we spend that on fragrances like that, when some of us own hundreds of fragrances already. It is crazy when you think about it.

So right now, I am more carefully with what I spend.

140 euro's for a Hermes but I had a voucher worth 100 euro's (along with my purchase of a washing machine, lol). I spend two times 175 euro's on Diptyque's and the scents were okay but didn't make up for the guilt I felt spending this much. Same goes for all cheaper scents I blind bought at the beginning of my fragrance journey....

Now I only buy scents I already know or tested and I won't go over 100 euro's.
