Sunset in Marrakesh

A wonderful sunset on a rooftop terrace in Marrakesh, perceiving all the aromas in the air: warm, enveloping spices, woods and impressive flowers.
The sensation is one of being relaxed but recharged at the same time, it is distinctive, oriental but really well balanced and I loved it.

Sensual Amber Note

So here I was on my way to KaDeWe, the destination: the Birkholz stand, once again. Just a day earlier, the ROJA Amber Aoud had arrived at my place. I tested for what felt like ages and ended up sticking with the Amber Intense. This one had already appealed to me last time, and this time I had to buy it. It strongly reminds me of the little gentle brother of the Amber Aoud. This fragrance is absolutely sensual, not overpowering, and simply high-quality. The Amber Intense is certainly not a sillage bomb, but that is not its purpose at all. It is meant to stay beautifully subtle in the background with the goal of making anyone who approaches you melt away in sensuality. The longevity is top-notch, the bottle looks very nice, and this perfume is definitely more approachable than its big brother from ROJA. Anyone who likes amber should check this one out; I am absolutely thrilled.

Patchouli Musk Bomb

One of my first higher-priced perfumes and still a beloved favorite is Amber Musk by Aerin. Therefore, I was quite curious about this Birkholz fragrance, which promises something similar according to its scent pyramid. And what can I say, my expectations were severely disappointed.
It may be marketed as unisex, but to me, it is very masculine, woody, heavy on musk and patchouli, but in an unpleasant way that reminds me of bouillon cubes. Unfortunately, the sillage and longevity are truly above average, and this scent bomb accompanied me all day despite very sparing application.
The heaviness that this fragrance exudes lingers in the room all day and makes a woman, when looking in the mirror, almost hallucinate a few extra kilos on her hips. I would rather stick with my light, soft, and wonderfully balanced Amber Musk when I feel like wearing amber.

Favorite Birkholz

After I stumbled upon a thread in the forum about this shop that no one seemed to know, I played the pioneer and went to check it out.

They made a great effort to convey an impression of exclusivity. That's not really my thing, but I still liked this scent.

The mention on their site about custom perfumes is unfortunately only to be understood as being able to choose from X options to personalize the bottle. Additionally, you can get blends from the 25 perfumes they offer, similar to Harry Lehmann, just on KuDamm instead of Kantstraße. So, more or less, you are buying a pre-layered perfume.

Unfortunately, they didn't just let me sniff around or ask about my preferences; instead, they had me test the "Online Perfume Sommelier" on a tablet. The perfumes suggested by the sommelier didn't really convince me and I found them rather boring.
They did eventually ask me what I like, and among other things, this scent came out.
And I really like it.

I would even say it's the better "Black Saffron (Eau de Parfum)." It starts with a nice rose-wood-saffron blend. I like it, but it's not particularly special at first. But then!
It may not be listed in the notes, but I could absolutely swear there's raspberry in there. And what a raspberry! What I found terrible about Black Saffron (way too sweet & artificial) is missing here. Instead, there's an astonishingly natural and not overly sweet raspberry. Since I'm not a fan of fruity & sweet scents, I don't know many raspberry fragrances. For my limited fruity perfume horizon, this was the most realistic raspberry I've ever smelled in a perfume. (Provided my nose isn't playing tricks on me, and there really is a raspberry accord in there). I had the scent on my skin three days ago. I just pulled out the test strip again, it still smells very intense, and yes, I stand by it, primarily raspberry.

If I were a fruit fan, I might have even bought the scent. But since that's probably never going to be my thing, and I much prefer to eat berries, I left this rather heavy and quite long-lasting scent where it was. In any case, it seems you can definitely find high-quality perfumes here. However, I also think you could get even better ones for the prices.
