I had the French Collection as a sample set and experienced some interesting new sensations. A surprise was the "Grasse - Fleur de Provence | Birkholz," which I expected little from but received a lot.
In the opening, it is very strong, somewhere between
Godolphin and "Tuscan Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford." There’s a sweetness from the blackberry, combined with a spicy leather note, as one would expect from the two mentioned. Since I am a big fan of leather fragrances, I was already hooked. However, knowing that Birkholz always puts its own stamp on things, I expected more, and I was not disappointed.
As I progressed into the drydown, strong green notes began to emerge, almost taking over the fragrance. Oh wow, how does that fit together, you might wonder? It fits really well! It’s a bitter herbal leather note that is truly very pleasantly cozy and takes away a bit of heaviness.
The longevity is above average, as one knows from the DNA, lasting a good 8 hours with good projection.
Conclusion: If you want to experience leather in a different way, you can be surprised by the "Grasse - Fleur de Provence | Birkholz."
