Wow wow wee wow..
This is just pure sexy, hint of pepper, myrrh sludge soaking up a piece of decadent chocolate, with tiny hints of vanilla clearing the dry down up into a PURE intoxicating trail. Doesn't project too well, but it isn't quiet. Lasts quite a while, my shirt is 2 days old and still screams of myrrh and chocolate, though I DO spray heavy, 8 -12 sprays.. if you let someone get close enough to smell, arms length, you will have a hard time removing them from your presence, for sure... this scent reminds me of something Kerosene would make, but blended just a tad bit longer/better. Private lines are worth it, of you can get this for 250$ for 100 ml still, it's worth it!

A Fragrant Piece of Dubai
After 4 years, my partner and I traveled to Dubai at the beginning of November;
in 2019, we were only there for 3 days in the summer as part of a Seychelles trip, where we had to layover in Dubai anyway.
This time, with more bearable temperatures, we wanted to spend 9 days in Dubai, see more, experience more, get to know Abu Dhabi, eat at Global Village and admire the reconstructed countries, which strongly reminded us of Las Vegas, eat at the marina (thanks @Connie for the great restaurant tip!), lie on the hotel beach, enjoy a fantastic view from "the view" on Palm Jumeirah; there was quite a bit of new stuff since we were there in 2019!
We were welcomed with 33 degrees and realized that it would have simply been too hot for us before November.

I had firmly resolved to test some fragrances from the Carolina Herrera Collection at the Dubai Mall, which were specifically launched for the Middle East, and I was already fixated on Gold Myrrh before the trip.

The fragrance begins with aromatic spicy myrrh, warm night air blowing through the desert, fine sugar sprinkling on myrrh trees. The dry-floral note seems to be immortelle, the straw flower. The air is aromatic-herb-sweet, one feels as if they can hear the cicadas chirping in the Mediterranean region.
Powdery soft.
The dry-smoky-sweet-spicy scent that I also perceived in the alleys of the souks in Dubai; the souk in Al Fahidi, where old Dubai has been somewhat artificially recreated, the tourist souk in the old town of Deira, and the chic souk Madinat Jumeirah, which belongs to the luxury hotel complex with a view of the Burj Al Arab; outside, tourists crowded to get a good photo with a view of the Burj Al Arab. The souks there have nothing to do with those in Tunisia, Egypt, or even in Salalah (South Oman); although you are also approached, goods are advertised, it feels more like a game there, a reproduced behavior that one expects from the Orient (my partner was still totally annoyed and wanted to run through the narrow alleys; at least in Deira).
The scents there: spices, dusty light, dried flowers, steaming incense pots everywhere (especially in Madinat Jumeirah, where at almost every corner, well-dressed people present perfume and oud oils, many shops of the brand Taif Al-Emarat, male sellers in suits in front).
Thus, "Gold Myrrh Absolute" also unites these oriental vibes without overwhelming (I did get a headache in Madinat at some point), "Gold Myrrh Absolute" somehow also refers to nature, the desert, sky, and earth.

As time goes on, I mainly smell, as I already described in my statement, vanilla-cocoa powder-myrrh, the vanilla becomes more pronounced, very smooth, gentle with a slight spicy twist. All in all, it reminds me of Armani Privé - Magenta Tanzanite in a fine, sweet, and less dry way.

The purchase at Sephora in the Dubai Mall was not pleasant; it was incredibly crowded, pushing customers, too many sales assistants, lurking security personnel. At the stand of the private Carolina Herrera Collection, "Gold Myrrh Absolute" was the only fragrance in the line not displayed when a sales assistant immediately approached me and took it out of the cabinet for testing.
I did not like Bronze Tonka at all; piercing oud, chemical like nail polish remover. Gold Incense was quite good at first impression, but very intense. So I made my way to the checkout, there were no samples at all. I was glad when I could leave Sephora again.

And so we later sat outside on the terrace of "Joe's Café" with a view of the Burj Khalifa and down to the Fountain Show, everywhere people with phones, I happily with my Sephora bag next to me, in front of me a plate of seafood pasta.
What remains from Dubai; the German-speaking guide from Egypt who showed us the Grand Mosque, the Etihad Tower, the pompous presidential palace and manically tried to entice us to emigrate to Dubai; crying newborns on the plane; women in hot pants and low-cut dresses at JBR, the party Cancun of Dubai; the best falafel and hummus with chilled Moroccan mint tea at the "Arabian Teahouse" in Al Fahidi sitting under lanterns; how my partner was addressed by name by the hotel staff and his butt was carried while I was hardly noticed; a Dubai Starbucks cup (how extremely many Starbucks locations there are all over Dubai!) and of course "Gold Myrrh Absolute".
A lot of sun stored in my head while we were expecting rain and 8 degrees in the evening in Düsseldorf, the prospect of cold waves and Christmas.

Mysterious Myrrh with Smoky Notes, Licorice & Cocoa
The Confidential line from Carolina Herrera is quite underrated. It's one of those niche lines from this brand, like many other brands do as well. Of course, you get a lot here with these luxurious fragrances of high quality. Especially since this line is not heavily hyped and receives little attention, it is rightly available at an affordable price on the market. The MSRP is €250 for 100ml, which is not even excessively overpriced for such great quality. These fragrances are often available at 50% off the MSRP, which is really good. This line is quite large, and there should be something for everyone. I was convinced by this Gold Myrrh Absolute. As a myrrh fan, this is a fragrance I can absolutely recommend, as it offers a wonderful luxurious quality. Even though the weather isn’t currently suitable for heavier scents, this one works quite well throughout the year, as it is an evening fragrance that reveals its charm best in the dark. Moreover, this scent is not too heavy, even in terms of sillage. In terms of fragrance DNA and composition, it is very reminiscent of the incense scent "Encens Suave (Eau de Parfum) | Matière Première," but has spicier notes and slightly leans towards "Ivory Route | Xerjoff." Overall, however, it is really soft and simply very elegant, making it quite easy to wear.

The packaging and bottle are, as usual for this price range, very impressive. You get a great box that is quite voluminous. The bottle is an absolute stunner and looks fantastic in a collection. In reality, it is much more beautiful than in pictures with all those edges. The bottle is really extremely heavy and has a magnetic cap. The sprayer is also very, very soft and perfectly dosed and smooth. A clear 10/10 for that.
You get all the notes in the pyramid from the fragrance. It seems as if there is incense included as well. It could also come from the Namibian myrrh, but I am not an expert on exotic myrrh notes. It starts with immortelle, a spicy-floral note that is also known as curry herb. This note gives the fragrance a wonderful floral-spicy opening, and a hint of pepper comes through as well. At the beginning, notes of myrrh also emerge, which is indeed the main character here and remains active throughout the entire duration. Along with this, there is a smoky-spicy note that is very gentle and relatively easy to wear. Licorice and cocoa also come in early. Both notes are very noticeable, and you shouldn't have any problem liking this creation. Licorice gives the fragrance a great dark vibe, and cocoa is also a bit darker with a nice sweetness. Despite the cocoa and vanilla, the fragrance never becomes gourmand and is never really too sweet due to the smoky-resinous spice. Wood also comes through a bit over time, even though none is listed here. A lovely warm scent with subtle oriental desert vibes. As mentioned, a great fragrance that reveals its full charm in the dark. This scent is also 100% unisex.
The performance is very solid, and the sillage allows you to wear this for more upscale occasions. The longevity should exceed 8 hours, and the sillage is neither beast mode nor skin-close, thus falling into a very pleasant range that suits this type of fragrance well.

Overall, for me, a great year-round evening fragrance. It convinces me on all levels, and this bottle, including the sprayer, is simply dreamy.

A Treasure Under the Radar
The Carolina Herrera Exclusives line (is that what it's called? Doesn't it have a fancy name?) completely flies under my radar. Very special fragrances, in beautiful bottles and sometimes available at a good price. And because I find that so unfortunate, I'm writing the second review for a CR now. Hopefully, another one will join soon.

Gold Myrrh Absolut starts off very peppery, which gives it almost a fresh-cold vibe. The pepper lingers longer, but that cold impression disappears. Namely, at the latest when the cocoa makes its grand entrance. We're talking about pure cocoa here. Not syrupy sweet, milky cocoa, but cocoa in its purest form. It does smell sweet, but it also smells dry and a bit earthy. It feels like I'm holding the cocoa bean in my hand and smelling it.
However, despite everything, this is a sweet-warm fragrance, as the vanilla serves as the perfect counterpart. It subtly adds just the right amount of warmth. To keep it from becoming boring, it has incense in tow that occasionally seeps through.
Gold Myrrh Absolut is very complex in all its notes, which still blend wonderfully together. Sometimes I even think I catch a hint of cold-spicy licorice.
The longevity is fantastic; the scent clings to me for a long time. The sillage is also great but not as overwhelming as some other fragrances with a similar character.

I find the bottles of the CR line to be a dream. Heavy, high-quality, they come in beautiful colors, adorned with a magnetic cap (that always appeals to me).
The price-performance ratio is nuanced; however, I never find it bad. The original price is fair for the quality you receive. Some of these treasures can also be found online at great prices. And if you're ever at Hurghada Airport, you can score some real bargains here.
I would truly recommend every fragrance lover to take a look at this line.

Spicy Winter Dream
On the recommendation of a dear perfumer, I got a decant of this fragrance. It could appeal to me... - Spoiler alert, it does!

The scent opens with the warm, spicy yet herbal aroma of immortelle, paired with pepper. It immediately warms the heart. Then, for me, a delicate hint of cocoa comes in, while I unfortunately don't smell any licorice. Although, I believe it wouldn't be quite right for my nose here anyway. Vanilla adds a lovely sweetness, and myrrh gives it a touch of that smoky oriental note. Really beautiful!

The fragrance somewhat reminds me of "Gold Fair in Mayfair | Atkinsons," "Secrets d'Essences - Vanille Noire | Yves Rocher," and especially a very soft, delicate version of Ani Extrait de Parfum or "Nasheet | Lattafa."

This is spicy woody and reminds me of Ivory route. It’s a well blended perfume but overpriced.

First Impressions-- very licorice-y. I like it, but my husband had a pretty viscerally negative reaction to this.

Zero sweetness, very dry, expensive pencil shavings, dusty cocoa powder and Smokey myrrh. Too masculine for me personally.

Rather dry-spicy myrrh complemented by dark cocoa & fine vanilla. I especially like that it manages to avoid overwhelming sweetness.

Oriental, mystical, dark. Chocolate harmonizes soooo well with the smoky, sultry myrrh. Unbelievably sexy.
