Favorite Iris of All Time
This has now become my favorite iris ever. It is so complex for an iris fragrance, capturing the entire plant from bulb to flower. A true ode to the flower. It has this amazing quality of being an "easy reach", yet it is such a magnificent perfume that to describe it thusly is insulting. Usually a perfume of this calibur should be worn on special occasions. It smells completely white.
A fresh, clean note of pear opens the perfume. Within seconds, you get glorious iris. It is powdery, a tiny bit earthy, a tiny bit starchy, and perfectly floral just like real irises. It's a heavenly makeup scent, a mix of powder and lipstick. There is a faint twinge of "violet" (I have smelled countless irises in real life, including iris padilla, and many do smell like 100% violet! The two flowers have chemical compounds in common that cause them to smell the same. So do not complain about smelling violet in iris perfumes, as it would be unusual to not smell some amount of "violet" in an actual iris flower). But this is not a violet candy perfume. Is is not sweet nor gourmand at all.
I love to wear this when the weather is cool and crisp. Something about it is warming and incredibly cozy, while every other iris perfume I can think of is cool and aloof.
I have Chanel 19 Poudre, Infusion d'Iris / Infusion d'Iris Absolue / Infusion d'Iris Cèdre, Iris Ganache, Hedonist Iris, Iris Porcelena, Chloe Atelier Iris, La Pausa EDT and EDP... so many more! I LOVE the finest iris perfumes I can get my hands on. This is the only one I reach for constantly. The others I must be in the right mood for. It is also the least expensive AND readily available to purchase online! You don't have to go seeking shady bottles on eBay or from discount perfumers who might be selling fakes.
I really should get a backup bottle because I would be DEVASTATED if I went over to the Fragonard website and found it was gone forever!
