Fun. A throwback smelling freshie
Sometimes it's easier to define a fragrance by what it isn't. Etoile is not modern whatsoever, it actually smells much older than it's 2009 release despite it's similarities to Light Blue and I Love Love. Which seems contradictory, but in Etoile there's more nuance and I smell am old fashioned floral undercurrent that isn't contained in the more youthful, simplistic LB and ILL.
- Here's a equivalent compairison : Vanilla Fields is an inexpensive vanilla with more going on than other Vanilla cheapies; well, Etoile is an affordable fresh, aquatic apple that has more within it too. The addition of the florals with the light ginger (especially lily-of-the-valley) give it almost a vintage touch.
The apple is a little...drier than what is in Light Blue? It's difficult to explain this, but this composition doesn't feel quite as aquatic to me.
This has a throwback tone. It's like repurposed thrifted clothing, and a renewed interest in vinyl. It's accessible, but nods at classic compositions. Sonia Constant is a perfumer I respect quite a lot, and she did quite well with this
