Scent of sunshine
Scent of sunshine
(sorry my english, I'm italian)
I was looking for a perfume that had Mimosa. I love Farnesiana.
I thought maybe Kenzo's Summer could satisfy my craving, but ebay prices hurt my pockets.
So, I decided to try Belle de Grasse and it was love.
Summer and mimosa get married. In the opening a hint of green leaves of violet, dewy.
Upon opening I notice a very slight bergamot note on my nose, I receive more notes of heliotropic mimosa and musk. A very gentle musk.
Too bad for the sillage.
But summer is assured.

Would It Be Better Sprayed On?
I tested this from a complimentary towelette enclosed in a Fragonard catalogue. I appreciate that the mimosa isn't overly sweet but there is an underlying scent that is almost chemical. I wish I knew what was causing that. Bad blending or notes that clash?
While convenient, the towelette doesn't exactly give the full experience of the perfume, so maybe that is the issue. I suspect this might have to be sprayed on to get the full measure. Since I am not the biggest fan of mimosa or lilac in the first place, except in a few rare instances, I'm not willing to buy a bottle to find out.

Bit of a disappointment
I blind bought Belle de Grasse in search for a replacement for, sadly discontinued, Kenzo Summer.
Well, it is very different. Kenzo Summer had a more creamy, make-up-y mimosa scent. More fluffy, soapy and airy. Belle de Grasse is a very distinct mimosa. The heliotrope in this, leaves me with a 'marzipan' kind of smell which is too 'compact' and it does not change in it's development.
I would only advise this when you love mimosa the way you smell the flower directly, right under your nose and are willing to smell like that the whole day through. In that aspect - creating a realistic mimosa - Fragonard did a very good job.
It's a kind scent, not offending, it just doesn't thrill me and is not what I hoped it to be. Longevity and sillage however, I find better than the ratings for that suggest.

Green and Other
Not that I can't stand "Belle de Grasse." Especially at the beginning, I find the distinct green scent cloud of fresh woodruff beautiful, although a bit too pronounced for a perfume. Because I perceive the coumarin, which also dominates the woodruff green, even more strongly. Then follows a somehow vanilla-sticky note. After calling it up, I recognize that this refers to the heliotrope.
After this note calms down, as a floral blend develops for me, I note: lilac and maybe heliotrope. I know more, but I can't recall what it is. After I called up the list, I see "mimosa absolute." I own "Absolu Mimosa" from "Provence et Natur" and after a direct comparison, I can say with certainty: "Yes, exactly this scent note pushes back the lilac scent, or sometimes I perceive more lilac, mostly the strong mimosa.
In my opinion, Belle de Grasse is quite an overwhelming-cuddly sweet green, slightly resinous floral scent that develops more creaminess over time and then becomes softer and more reserved.
However, I would only use "Belle de Grasse" as a deodorant and room spray in the home environment.
This is also how I exclusively use "Absolue Mimosa" from "Provence et Natur."
I quite like "Belle de Grasse."
It just seems impossible to me; I can't imagine using "Belle de Grasse" as a perfume.

A Hunter's Bed from Grasse
Anyone who has looked around on YouTube at the end of last year has surely stumbled upon bushcraft and survival channels. And if you delve a little into the topic of building shelters, you can't avoid the hunter's bed.

And that's exactly the kind of hunter's bed we have here - well, at least in principle. But it’s not for hunters, rather for huntresses, huntresses of sun rays in early March. For huntresses of the first daisies and the first lemon butterflies that promise the exuberant spring.

But back to our hunter's bed.
At the very top are mimosa flowers, the fluffy little balls of the acacia trees (not the mimosas that get startled when touched). And to lie comfortably, there are many mimosas - many little yellow balls on their delicate racemes. It tickles a bit in the nose. We lie there completely enchanted. But after a while, we turn back and forth. You don’t sleep every day in a hunter's bed. And we crush the mimosas. And also the layer beneath: many, many lilac branches with flowers and leaves are pressed. Thus, alongside the slowly fading mimosas, the lilac with leaf and bark comes in. It smells green and juicy and of lilac. And while we turn back and forth a few more times, brushing the tickling mimosas from our faces and resting our heads on our arms, the scent of freshly crushed clover slowly wafts through the bed of leaves and flowers. And wondering how all of this can smell so good, we fall asleep and dream until the next morning. As long as the flowers smell. In our hunter's bed from Grasse.

It reminds me on "Cover me in Sunshine" song. Lots of mimosa and violete leaves. Very natural fragrance and pleasent fragrance.

This is my favourite scent with mimosa as absolute main character. Realistic, natural, monochromatic. The beauty of simplicity.

A delicate floral scent, almost girlish. Yes, it suits a beauty. Fluffy-fine thanks to the musk, while being subtle in the sillage.

That's not my scent at all. Hay powder and modeling clay, sweet honey cream and bitter mimosa. It turns me into a little delicate flower.

For me, the violet leaf and lilac stand out more than the mimosa, which I don't really like anyway. A bit too much musk.

Heliotrope and coumarin create: woodruff marzipan. Plus dusty immortelle and powdery musk, tricky, tricky. I don't like it.

Marzipan & lilac, a light elegant sweetness, very feminine & musky. As unique as it is charming. Mildly honeyed yet fresh, without being cloying.
