Nostalgic fragrances 2

Are there any fragrances you find particularly nostalgic? For example I know my grandmother always had a bottle of Echt Kölnisch Wasser Eau de Cologne Smelling it takes me back immediately. And even though it smells pretty darn good, I wouldn’t wear it myself because of that.

Do you have any fragrances that bring back memories?

Oh Yes!, Drakkar Noir, Azzaro pour Homme, Polo, Agua Brava, Red for Men....
Well, My cologne purchases are based on Nostalgia. I mean, When I buy a cologne, it is because it reminds me of those moments in the past. Nostalgic, a sentimentality for the past.
some modern ones that I have, are related to the past. like Hugo Extreme, which is Hugo Boss from 95, the Black Rasasi Royale, is Boston Man cologne by Antonio Puig from 88...

Mitsouko Eau de Parfum My mother wore this (an earlyer version ofcourse) from time to time and it smelled so beautyful on her! I own this version (which is wonderful) and it brings back dear memories immidiately!

I ofcourse know Echt Kölnisch Wasser Eau de Cologne too, but unfortunately I associate this with illness and migraines because my mother would dab it on my forhead when I had a fever or a headache...

If you like the Kölnisch Wasser and want some longevity and sillage out of it, you could try Eau de Rochas L'Essentiel It reminded me a lot of the Kölnisch Wasser (which is why I don't like it) but with good performance (which 4711 obviously lacks). It's marketed towards women, I think, but I find it rather masculine actually.

Oh forgot: My singnature L'Air du Temps Eau de Parfum is ofcourse very nostalgic! It was created after WO II to illustrate feelings of hope. But I don't know this from anyone I knew as a kid strangely enough...I first smelled it on a guy I was in love with Smile!!! Picture that Smile My love for this scent has got nothing to do with that memory however, I just love, love, love, love the scent and would have loved it also if I had never smelled it before. But it certainly can make one nostalgic.

Red Door Eau de Toilette is always going to remind me of my grandma! I think it was the first perfume I ever remember sniffing. I hated it, but my grandma and my mum insisted it was good.

Le Mâle Eau de Toilette

Remind me of my childhood in the 90s.

The scent was amazing back then. Now a bit too synthetic. But so 90s! The bottle was a thing to talk about!

Hey @Ceesie!! Excellent topic, thanks!
I have a few that come to mind, linked to signature scents I had over the years. The first is Allure Homme Sport Eau de Toilette.

When I was a kid, around 10 years old, I received a sample of Allure Homme Eau de Toilette and Allure Homme Sport Eau de Toilette. No idea where it came from though! I instantly fell in love with AHS. A couple of years later, having spared the money, I bought a bottle: my first ever. I think I’m on my 4th of AHS now. It takes me back to early teenage years, and later to Brighton and Melbourne.

Boss Bottled Eau de Toilette takes me back to my training days, when I was studying to become a lab technician. These days feel so far away (also because I haven't done that job in a long time). It reminds me of anxious mornings strangely enough 😂

The last would be L'Homme Eau de Toilette. This one takes me back to my first apartment away from home. To me, it’s the smell of freedom.

Coco Eau de Parfum is a bit nostalgic for me, but I've made it my own. My grandma wore Coco. She knew what was good.

The first perfume I bought for myself Hidden Fantasy it was a feel good scent to me and smelling it today reminds me of my teenage years.

2

For me it is Aztek (1993) Eau de Toilette which reminds me my father. I could find an original bottle which I use really rarely to reminds me when he was still alive Sad

And how can we not mention L'Heure Bleue Eau de Parfum ?? Very nostalgic in a melancholy way.

I’d love to know what L'Heure Bleue Eau de Parfum smells like. What memories does it provoke for you @Ringtale ?

Eau de Lancaster from my mom

It absolutely makes me feel protected and safe every time even the thought of its smell comes to my mind.

Wonderful beautiful scent I feel a special attachment to.

I don't think anyone in my youth wore it, but I don't need to remember anyone wearing it because the scent itself is very nostalgic and melancholy: It reflects the time of day when the sun goes down, that sort of blue...It is a powdery scent with a spicy touch and also a bit fresh, the color blue fits the scent perfectly. Very beautyful and nothing like other powdery scents.

A few for me.

#1 is of course N°5 Eau de Toilette (specifically the EDT) which is my mom's signature scent. The essence of feminine class in my eyes.

Gucci pour Homme II Eau de Toilette ,Eros Eau de Toilette (literally bought it right after it came out) and 1 Million Cologne were the three fragrances I wore in uni, especially 1 Million Cologne. So many memories, so much nostalgia. The smells of freedom.

Cigarette smoke plus Coco Eau de Parfum would be very nostalgic for me. Beloved Woman with its smoky tobacco note is definitely in that arena.

Oh yes! A huge part of my collection is about nostalgia. ☺️ For example, my first own perfume was Far Away Eau de Parfum and I wore it a lot in my childhood. I always remember my dad (who passed away when I was in my 20s) from fragrances like Eryo and Wild Country Cologne. During my high school years I wore Cool Water Woman and during my university years Euphoria Eau de Parfum and Versense.

Oh yeah, several.  Polo Green was the first frag I had to have and it's got a very special place for me.  Fahrenheit, Cool Water, Nautica, Drakkar Noir as well.  Had some good times wearing all of these.

I'd love a remake of Le Feu d'Issey and its lighter version Le Feu d'Issey Light. Nothing else like it and sorely missed.

For me, it's Green Tea Eau Parfumée . It's my first perfume, and it always brings back memories of summer break when school was over.
