No cappuccino
With my lack of finesse in French language, I assumed this fragrance would smell like a cappuccino. When I realised it didn't, I turned to research and found that the direct translation into English was a type of water cress called Nasturtium. Apparently it is known for its tangy and peppery flavour.

Well Capucine is neither a cappuccino nor a pungent tasting herb. This fragrance is actually quite a delicate, creamy and sweet floral.

It has a lovely French aura to it, that makes me grasp for the words classic and feminine. It's nothing particularly unique, but it's a scent that stays with me long after it's gone.

I get mostly creamy, slightly powdered rose and jasmine with a rich tea note that brings a touch of masculinity and boldness to the composition. At times this fragrance is mysterious, but its occasional candied sweetness brings it back to the land of the predictable.

It has one of the nicest musky drydowns I've found in a fragrance, with the distinctive creamy, vanillac sweetness working well in the base.

The lasting power is great for that of an EDT, and I can only imagine how much richer and creamier the pure parfum version of this fragrance would be.

Scent of the Nasturtium?
With Capucine, I had a hard time not disliking the scent, but rather describing it appropriately.
Initially, I puzzled over the origin of the name; I think it comes from Fleur de Capucine = nasturtium.
Its leaves and flowers are said to have an intensely spicy scent, somewhat peppery.
Unfortunately, I didn’t sow any this year, so I can’t verify it. I love the warm tones of the flowers (and not just me; bumblebees and bees are absolutely crazy about them, they can’t crawl deep enough into the “hoods” to collect the flower pollen), which range from soft yellow to orange to warm brown-red.

The top note is initially sweet and soft, with a subtle hint of vanilla. This impression quickly fades as the bergamot takes over, and it becomes green - powdery.
Bergamot can be very dominant, but here it is tamed by the green tea?
Not long after, the rose takes the edge off the bergamot; their interplay creates a very beautiful note, over which a light hint of vanilla hovers.
I really like this development; the scent feels soft and powdery, soothing in its lightness.
Somehow, bergamot manages to take control again before jasmine enters the stage. Woodsy notes serve as excellent supporting actors, and the perfectly coordinated ensemble results in a pleasant creaminess, agreeable sweetness, and gentle green with hints of orange in the background.
Bergamot never completely gives up; it somehow always lingers. It’s amazing how it can hold its own against the leading pair of rose and jasmine.
C has something elusive, unstable, and cannot be pigeonholed. I tested C repeatedly over days; each time I thought I had it figured out, the impression was slightly different, revealing a new facet.
Softly creamy with a delicate musk note, C fades out, with vanilla flashing briefly from time to time. Even in the base note, the variability remains.
Characteristic of C is the interplay between sweet and green, which creates a beautiful tension.
A pleasant perfume for everyday wear, well-suited for the workplace.

If I had to name a wearer to whom C would suit well, I would choose the elegant actress Capucine (actually Germaine Hélène Irène Lefebvre; 1928 - 1990), a classic beauty who worked as a model for Givenchy and Dior at the age of 15 before being discovered in film.
Who knows, maybe she was the namesake?

Longevity: so-so, sillage quite okay.

The Monster Cream Jar
With that name, I was actually expecting something along the lines of a coffee latte, but here we only have the cream, without the coffee!

From the fresh notes in the top note, nothing really comes through on my skin. This Fragonard immediately launches into the heart note on my skin. Jasmine and rose in abundance greet me right away.

In the base, Capucine then opens a monster cream jar! Responsible for this is a bright and super creamy musk note. The wood accord takes away the otherwise penetrating soapiness of the musk and further supports the cream feeling.

I don't think this scent is bad, but it is a bit too creamy for me.

Chloe Capucine is lovely - green & piquant. With this Capucine, I envision dusty brocade upholstery soaked in cleaning fluid.

Well-groomed freshness, wonderfully enveloping from fine soapy to creamy. A light essence that brings so much comfort, smiling through the day.

Smells powdery-sweet and slightly spicy to me. Powder-sugar body cream.

Floral, green, and yet powdery, very pleasant for me. Unfortunately, it's one of those Fragonards that are no longer available. Such a shame.

Herb-spicy body butter. Rich. Later creamy white musk. Smells pleasant - but really more like body care than perfume.

Pleasant scent. I smell jasmine and musk. The sillage and longevity are average. I'm not a big fan of jasmine.

The beginning is spicy-citrusy, then only a powdery-creamy iris + light rose accord remains. The base is soft. Very sweet.
