The Sparkling Aventus Interpretation
One can definitely say that many brands have been inspired by this typical Creed Aventus DNA. Gritti is no exception with You're so vain. However, this one has its own twist, as it reminds me a bit of Rosso Pompei by Tiziana Terenzi with its wonderful grapefruit note. In any case, it is quite distinctive, as Gritti also exudes that typical Italian flair in its fragrances. I appreciate the signature of brand owner and perfumer Luca Gritti. Most of the freshies from this brand simply smell of Italian lightness and sunshine. Overall, I really like this brand, and several are already in my collection. The pricing is excellent, as many are available for 50% below the MSRP. The MSRP of this freshie is €260, before the price increase it was €245. On sale, it can be had for about half that. Since the big hype has not materialized, it is readily available. However, it is not exactly a shelf warmer, as it is not unpopular. This DNA is timeless, and this wonderful fresh scent can be used in various ways.
You're so vain is part of the IVY Collection. It is priced in the mid-range of this brand, as there is room both up and down. The bottles come in a beautiful black flacon, which in this case does not reflect the scent. The golden embellishments, including the cap, make it very elegant. The packaging is also cool and not overdone.
As mentioned, the Aventus DNA immediately greets you fresh upon spraying. Perhaps it leans slightly more towards a block due to the fruitier freshness. It is extremely mass-appealing and is a scent that is simply easy to wear. To be too similar to Aventus, this Gritti contains too many fruity notes that pull this scent even more towards the casual and summer leisure direction. The grapefruit also gives this fragrance a wonderful invigorating fresh kick with herbaceous-sparkling notes. Along with lemon, which of course cannot be missing in an Italian freshie. The green notes are not very recognizable as such, as they blend well with the lemon and grapefruit. In the heart note, even more fruits follow that have a cool vibe. Black currant and a wonderful mix of red fruits provide a great harmonious heart note. The harmony between fruit and citrus is definitely present, resulting in a fantastic fruity-citrus mix that is quite wearable in warmth and heat. In the base, there are nutmeg and patchouli. Nutmeg gives this creation the spice that is not autumnal or even wintry in this case. The nutmeg note integrates well and lies beautifully under the woody notes (which are not specified in the pyramid here). Tobacco flower is also said to be in this creation. Overall, it is very soft, and even in the base, it remains light and finishes beautifully. The base and the end are rather soft with patchouli and this gentle spice of nutmeg. Oak moss adds some classic vibes to the patchouli note. Overall, it is a scent that does not overwhelm and is actually ALWAYS wearable when one is in the mood for a freshie.
Performance is absolutely fine for these conditions, and this scent lasts its 6-8 hours with about 3 hours of very good sillage. Thus, it is great for everyday wear, sports, and whenever one feels like wearing this scent. The fragrance is likely to appeal more to men, but women can certainly try this scent as well.
Overall, a great fragrance from the Gritti brand. It impresses with a wonderful citrus freshness with a sparkling grapefruit and great fruits. It is not mega-unique, but it does its job very well. I can definitely see myself buying or wearing it. The price-performance ratio is really good if you buy it on sale.
