What happened to you? Or to me?
The first bottle of Rialto moved in with me back in 2017. I loved it. Initially, it had a clean and fresh start with bergamot. Saffron made it a bit mythical and warm in the top notes. Clean musk and a pleasant warm amber. Very soft, gentle, unobtrusive oud. Rose and iris provide a nice powdery-floral note. You were soooo great, so well-balanced, so pleasing. You were my signature scent for years, my loyal, beloved fragrant companion. You were even there on my first date with my husband. And then?!? Suddenly my last bottle with Swarovski crystals was empty... As always, I wanted to order a refill. But suddenly you were nowhere to be found, it felt like you were ghosting me. I searched online everywhere, but you were sold out everywhere... My husband wanted to make me a huge surprise and surprised me with a gift under the Christmas tree. Suddenly you looked different too, no more matte black glass, but velvety, not the usual Swarovski closure, but black-gold. I had the worst fears, as the familiar DNA often gets lost with a new edition. I hoped and prayed. I sprayed, and my fears came true! You were definitely not the same! A similar DNA, but completely different! Where did this soapy, sticky mango suddenly come from? Pineapple? Persimmon? Starfruit? What is this Tropi Frutti mix????!?! It really felt like betrayal, and my fragrance heart broke in two...
Because of this absurd Tropi Frutti note, which still bothers me to this day, you are unfortunately no longer wearable in everyday life... The delicate, carefree, and balanced powdery-creamy freshness has now become almost unbearably sweet...
My husband unfortunately saw my disappointment, took my wrist, and looked puzzled. He said, "This is not the same scent, that can't be right!"
Allegedly, the formula was not changed, only the bottle, but that is not true. In 2024, I found an "old" bottle in France. At first, I thought I was going crazy and my nose was playing tricks on me, but this one smells exactly like the well-known original!! After the vacation, I put it to the test; the two have a related DNA, but are fundamentally different. To this day, it still feels like betrayal to my perfume heart!
It remains a beautiful scent, well-crafted. But anyone who knew the first version should definitely test the new version first, so the disappointment isn't so great.
