What are your blind buy regrets?

What are your blind buy regrets? 0
Thought this would be a fun discussion, admittingly most of my blind buy regrets where during the time I was buying fragrances in earnest and others where when it was started to become more of a passion project.

The ones I regret buying:
Hugo Boss Deep Red
Hugo Boss Orange
Hugo Boss Femme
Roberto Cavalli Just Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli Acqua
Lancome O de Lancome
Calvin Klein Eternity Aqua
Chanel No 5
Jeanne Arthes Boum Sweet Lollipop
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy

Which fragrances do you regret blind buying?

Pretty much all of those impulse buys. The more affordable, the more careless I get. Most of the time with disappointing result. Typically I wear them once and then find a way to get rid of them.

White Musk Eau de Toilette

Tea Rose Eau de Toilette

Quorum Eau de Toilette

Quorum Silver Eau de Toilette

One Man Show Eau de Toilette

Néroli Intense actually I decided to keep this one, but I never wear it

Grey Flannel Eau de Toilette

Coriandre Eau de Toilette

Tabac Original Eau de Toilette

Lapidus pour Homme Eau de Toilette

Private Collection Eau de Parfum

Fresh Sandalwood

Noble Palo Santo

"Shaghaf Oud | Swiss Arabian"

it was too strong, I had to sell it.

1

For me it was Chopard - Casmir and Agent Provocateur - Fatale.

1

For me the worst was Dusita Fleur de Lalita. It was too vintage and heavy in white flowers for my taste.

I have bought a few fragrances that contain OUD. I should have known better.

I live in Miami so it is always very hot here. OUD was not made for hot weather.

I just can't stand it.

Most of what I have were blind buys (90% I would say), but I regret very few of them.

However, I do regret buying Bentley for Men Intense, Blue Jeans by Versace, Patchouli by Reminiscence and Armaf Sillage

Recently for me it was Hugo Boss Bottled Oud Saffron. 90% identical to Jaques Bogart One Man Show Ruby Edition which is much cheaper and already have.

Xerjoff Ceylon 0

xerjoff ceylon - too much honey for me

Amouage: Sunshine Man

Rive Gauche Pour Homme in its recent "La Collection" edition (cubic bottle). The fragrance has been reformulated and is very harsh compared with the original (black/blue/silver bottle).

Also Azzaro pour Homme. It's a great one, but I guess it's victim of its success. To me it is the smell of middle class men in the morning going to work. I appreciate it, but I can't wear it.

Oh, mine definitely is Zara Orchid 😒

Fracas Eau de Parfum - bought it ca 2003 based on a review in the French version of Marie Claire where it was praised as a masterpiece. I still cannot wear it.

"Sacrebleu (Eau de Parfum) | Parfums de Nicolaï" - the same situation as Fracas.

L'Heure Bleue Eau de Toilette - it was a refill bottle and very cheap. Advice to myself: do not buy it just because it's cheap.

Roses on Ice - first perfume purchase at the beginning of the pandemic. Fresh cucumber water. I don't see how or where to wear it.

Ylang in Gold Eau de Parfum - Influenced again! for some reason I cannot come to terms with this type of ylang Sad

And all most of bottles at the bottom shelf...

For me it's Oud Malaki1881 pour Homme (2005) Eau de Toilette "Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc (Eau de Toilette) | Lacoste" and Voyage Eau de Toilette

I would always trade a nice bottle over these 4 combined

Daligramme: Messages Secrets à Gala - Ma Victoire

(Too sweet for me; but fortunately my daughter likes it; she finished 100 ml bottle during few months, & asks about new one 😊; she is a student, that is why (its too expensive for her).

The Fabulous Collection - Fabulous Srinagar

(To sweet for me; i bought it few months ago & still have at, if someone interested)

Voulez-vous coucher avec Moi

(Was first Kilian, which I don’t like)

Eugénie

(Still have it, if someone interested; nice scent, but it’s more for young girls)

Guipure & Silk Ylang Vanille

Guipure & Silk

- bought after reading reviews; didn’t like it.

(Still have it; shipping costs are higher than the perfume price 😊).

B-612

(Was beautiful first few months, than become too masculine at my skin)

La Nuit Trésor Intense

(After niche my nose didn’t like it ; + i remember how was Lancôme 30 years ago; I don’t like modern ingredients)

II-II Mandala

- my love & hate scent

- can not say goodbye & can not wear it 😊

One time I likes the perfume, another one note 😊. At this moment, more “likes” than “dislike”.

🍀🍀🍀

What happens often, I like the perfume from the sample/decant, I like the perfume few months after i bought it, but than, I don’t like it anymore. This happened with almost all Amouage’s, I had more than 10 bottles 😊. Now I have only one (still like it).

"Olfactories - Some Velvet Morning | Prada"

"Olfactories - Double Dare | Prada"
Bought after reading reviews, & because the tester bottle was cheaper 2X, than the regular price. Not beautiful at my skin (sold/swapped).

Génie des Bois

(I like what Keiko Mecheri creating, but this one not, still have it, the bottle is in the Souk)

Different Company - bought 2 perfumes with discount, didn’t like them, sold/swapped. Later bought few decants (another perfumes). Didn’t like them too.

Don’t look at Different Company anymore, “not my cap of tea”.

Mancera - after 2-3 weeks using sold all 4 bottles which I had. Don’t even test something from Mancera anymore.

Same with Montale, very quickly disappointed (I tested a lot from Montale).

🍀🍀🍀

At this moment, I try always to test first, than find a decant 5-10 ml, than, if I still like the perfume, to buy a bottle.

But it’s still happens, after few months, I opened the bottle, I don’t like the perfume anymore.

I don't like Fructus Virginis Parfum Extract very much. I think it's good in some objective sense, it out-performs Lost Cherry Eau de Parfum for sure. Unfortunately, I realized I hate cherry after having it on for about an hour.

"Qaed Al Fursan | Lattafa / لطافة" wasn't even that expensive but I still regret it. I have yet to find someone that wants it. Everyone I know that has smelled it says the same thing: "It smells like plastic." The only notes I get are cedarwood and that plasticky amber that is in a lot of fragrances lately. Is my bottle fake? Maybe! It would be weird to fake a brand that is already pretty cheap and accessible, but, I suppose it's possible.

"Oud Mood | Lattafa / لطافة" I regret blind buying this but I don't regret having it at all. I'm really glad I learned to love it, but, it was definitely not a safe blind buy. I don't blind buy anymore because of this one, actually.

Charlie Blue (the only fragrance to give me a headache! it was only one spray! stuck to me forever too!)

Red

Pink Sugar

Pink Sugar Berry Blast (reviews on fragrantica said it didn't smell like licorice... but it does)

Pear Glace

Probably Hugo Just Different Eau de Toilette

It has very poor longevity and projection and I can’t find anything to layer it with so far.

Usually Light Blue pour Homme Eau Intense is my go to for layering weak fragrances like this but nope! They just don’t work together.

Lattafa Khamrah

Mon Guerlain

Hanaghasa (Avon)
