My third review of a fragrance from Birkholz and a quick spoiler: if you carry too many sins with you,
Intimate Incense is not for you...
I don't know what sins are still weighing on my shoulders, but the incense in this fragrance seems to attack them with a rocket launch. Very smoky, dark and partly leathery. The oriental character advertised by the manufacturer is omnipresent. Seems to be very much a matter of taste as the fragrance is surprisingly not rated particularly well but anyone who has followed my review knows that I love dark fragrances and this one is no exception. The incense note is definitely a long distance rocket, which only gives the spicy and creamy part of the fragrance a chance after several hours. Although the fragrance is unisex, I would recommend it more to a man. There are only four registered users on Parfumo, but unsurprisingly they are all male.
As I have already indicated, the incense is full throttle. With four sprays on my neck, I was able to perceive myself for over eight hours. Apparently some sins needed to be smoked away.
The dark style of the bottle suits the character of the fragrance, but I find it rather boring and even more so when you consider the price, which is quite something.
Because at 465 euros for 100 ml, I'm being asked to pay a lot for my sin cleansing. This pricing could actually be the biggest problem, because I suspect most people (including me) would not pay this money for the fragrance. The fragrance DNA and especially the performance are really good, but at almost 500,- Euro it must completely knock my socks off that I even think about paying the price for the full size. Accordingly, the fragrance is probably also measured by its high price and therefore doesn't perform particularly well.
Dark incense fragrances are often automatically compared to
Ombre Nomade. And although the fragrance comes from the expensive house of Louis Vuitton, it is still 100 euros cheaper and much more popular with the Parfumo community. I therefore think that Birkholz is standing in his own way with the price policy of the fragrance, because he is actually capable of something.
