Azzure Aoud French Avenue 2024

There are some fragrances that only the wearer will appreciate at first, this seems like one of those. Some I even consider to be a guilty pleasure. One that you hope others will grow to appreciate over time. After spraying this on myself, part of me was questioning whether or not to jump back in the shower to wash it off, while another part of me was thinking "nah, let it ride... we've already come this far!" In the end, I chose to ride it out. I felt the same way about Oud For Glory the first time I wore it.

As is sometimes the case, some reviews on here point to a different experience and scent journey with their bottles. Some even getting none of the passion fruit smell in the fragrance. My bottle's production date is August 2025, and having grown up eating passion fruit, I immediately recognized the maracuja (passion fruit) in the opening. That being said, this potion is nuclear. This one is not dying down shortly after spraying it (like some fragrances do). In fact, I had to extend my arm out as far as possible to spray it, just so that I didn't end up with a concentrated blast in any one part of my body. I also only pressed the atomizer partially to avoid spraying too much. This scent might be one of those that you spray into the air and then walk into the mist. It smells nice in the air, but it is potent if you put your nose right up to the spot where you applied it.

The fragrance notes as written on the side of the box it came in are listed as:
Top Note: Passion Fruit, Saffron, Rose
Middle Note: Oud, Patchouli, Benzoin
Base Note: Leather, Cistus, Vanilla, Amber.

As I'm sitting in the scent bubble, it comes across like a strong passion fruit version of Ombre Leather Parfum by Tom Ford. In fact, every now and then, I catch a whiff of what Ombre Leather Parfum smells like (to my nose) as if it's trying to break through the heavier passion fruit layer on top of it. I'm writing this almost 2 hours after applying it on, and it is still pumping. Let's see how the rest of the ride goes!

Despite its name, Azzure Aoud isn't really what I'd call an 'oud fragrance'. The oud accord in it doesn't smell authentic, and mainly contributes a slight dirtiness (in the sense of being the opposite of freshness) to the whole bouquet.

The scent is mainly very fruity, with a not-quite-photorealistic but recognizable impression of passion fruit. However, unlike many fruity scents, it goes in a dirty and pungent direction instead of a refreshing one. The fruitiness is supported by a well-blended accord that does evoke the smell of leather, though it plays a supporting role and does not overpower the fruity notes. I don't really like leathery accords in most perfumes that feature them, but in Azzure Aoud it somehow all works out decently well. It doesn't really evoke the image of leather in my mind so much as the image of over-ripe fruit that may have been kept in a basket on top of a leather seat in a car. The leathery accord only plays second fiddle here, together with the dirty "oud" that probably contributes to the over-ripe feeling of the fruity notes.

Unlike most fruity fragrances, Azzure Aoud is a strong performer, with good longevity and lasting projection. It doesn't come across as particularly authentic to the real scent of passion fruit, you won't have people asking you where you're hiding your fruit basket; but it nonetheless conveys the idea of fruit in a pleasant way.

I don't think Azzure Aoud is anything particularly special, nor did it amaze me in any way. But I think it's a very competent composition for what it is: a cheap, well-performing fruity composition that feels more juicy than syrupy, and will likely be fairly unchallenging to people around you despite its pungency.

Smells terrible no fruit at all.
Just leather and ink.
It gave me a headache and i cant get this of my skin it lasts for a day and projects wildly, if you spray this you wont be able to get rid of this junk. Now i am looking somebody to give this perfume . If you like disturbing people get this NOW!

I purchased this perfume thinking this was going to be a very challenging perfume, dark, mysterious, difficult to like, however the reality is very different.

This is fruity / sweety, a bit leathery and earty and in the dry down has some hints of oud.

I've tried Ombre Nomade , Maahir Black Edition , Black Fume and of course Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum .. some people say they are "fruity dark", but hear me out, Azzure Aoud is fruity 90% and dark 10%, this is anything like those perfumes, Azzure Aoud is a lot easier to wear, way more versatile.

SCENT: the opening is super juicy and fruity, a sweet maracuja (passion fruit) note with a bit of rose, then the hints of leather, patchouli and leather arrive, the amber and vanilla just play around to make this a bit sweeter and more rounded, not so sharp and aggresive, it becomes less juicy in the dry down but just a little bit.

PERFORMANCE: If your skin is like mine (totally unforgivable with perfumes) then you'll have around 6-8 hours of longevity with 2-3 hours of strooong projection.

VERSATILITY: this is not an office scent, it's more a date night, drinks night scent, even for some cocktails in the afternoon, if you have some casual clothes, then it's going to give this playful but mysterious vibe, however if you have more formal clothers, then it can give this vibes of authentic and a bit extrovert and mysterios, yet approachable.

CAUTION: If you have never smelled anything different to Sauvage Eau de Toilette or Good Girl Eau de Parfum then of course this will appear SUPER STRONG OUDY fragrance, but please, calm down, is not the perfume, is that you're like a baby finding there is more than just milk in the world
- This is not a strong oud fragrance, is basically the most wearable oud, and it has like 1% oud, don't worry you won't become arab for using this.
- This is different to almost all perfumes in my collection, I've some designer perfumes, mass-appealing, others a bit different, more niche, but still a pretty regular user, so don't think I'm a perfume guru.
- This is way more versatile than other beasts such as Laathani /لاثاني, specially because it's a bit sweeter and less oudy.
- You have to like the maracuya (passion fruit) smell of course (just basic thinking)

Where is the oud? I smell heavy passion fruit, opening is harsh so keep your nose away. I don’t get any vanilla here at all.

After an hour it’s definitely nicer, a bit more balanced, but still a heavy scent. It lasts a long time, I woke up the next morning and still had quite strong performance. The leather came through eventually and was much nicer when it did.

If you like heavy, sweet fruits this is for you. Just not my cup of tea but I can see some enjoying it. Overall, it’s nice, it’s relatively close to Oud Maracuja for a fraction of the price.
