Wherever Mango, I Follow.
Okay. I was not expecting this at all. I ordered Vulcan Feu as part of a big decant haul mostly filled with Pacific Chill dupes, but this is marketed as a dupe of God of Fire by Stéphane Humbert Lucas. The twist? It smells way more like Pacific Chill to me but replace apricot with mango. And it's goddamn amazing.
I haven’t smelled God of Fire yet, though it’s been on my radar. It’s just hard to find a decant that isn’t absurdly priced. That said, Vulcan Feu makes me really curious about the original, because this stuff? This is the mango bomb I’ve been searching for.
Now, I say “bomb” lightly. It’s definitely present and noticeable, but not overwhelming. In terms of mango-forward scents, this is miles better than the bummy Banana Republic gave us in Midnight Hour (which I unfortunately blind bought.)
Why does this remind me of Pacific Chill? Probably because I’ve been testing too many clones, but seriously: this has the same fresh, musky, fruity base. Swap out the apricot in PC for a green, underripe mango, add some tropical notes, and you’ve got this. It’s minty-fresh, gingery-spicy, and musky in the best way, even though there’s no mint note listed??
Honestly, it’s rare for me to test something and immediately know I want a full bottle, but Vulcan Feu hit that mark. It’s vibrant, clean and unisex. It's a tropical beachside vacation in a bottle.
Congrats, Vulcan Feu. You’ve really impressed me. Now I have to get my nose on God of Fire.
