The
Angels' Share Eau de Parfum is a fragrance that I didn't warm up to with the first spray. I tested the scent relatively soon after its release and initially wasn't really convinced by it. However, after spending more time with
Angels' Share Eau de Parfum and seeing friends wear it, I found it to be a very nice boozy gourmand scent and almost worth the hype. However, I never managed to bring myself to spend nearly €250 for 50ml.
When looking for alternatives, one will currently notice that there are now very many dupes and alternatives to "Angels' Share (Eau de Parfum) | Kilian." Many still claim that "Khamrah / خمرة | Lattafa / لطافة" is the best alternative, especially in terms of price/quality ratio. I never understood this, as "Khamrah / خمرة | Lattafa / لطافة," along with other candidates like "Sharaf Blend / شرف | Zimaya," do not resemble the original to my nose at all and have a different scent inspiration, namely "Sava | Gissah / قصة." My biggest criticism of "Khamrah / خمرة | Lattafa / لطافة" and its counterparts has always been the boozy start of "Angels' Share (Eau de Parfum) | Kilian."
And it is exactly this wonderful boozy start that we have here with
Royal Blend! I find that
Royal Blend is, to my nose, the best and closest dupe I have tested so far, especially regarding cheaper alternatives. It comes very close to the original, except for the addition of a lovely plum. That is one of the few differences I can detect between this scent and the original. Of course, if you test both side by side, you will notice differences, but without comparison, there’s hardly a chance.
The fragrance has, alongside the boozy opening with the juicy plum, a beautiful balance between boozy and gourmand, but without the gourmand aspect smelling too realistically like food. It's a warm, spicy scent, but not overly sweet. Truly a beauty for the cold days and a must-try for gourmand lovers.
The packaging is also, as with many of these Arabic brands, reliably good, and the bottle looks really nice, even though it is clearly inspired by the original. Longevity is solid, although a bit weaker than the original, but it still lasts around 8 - 10 hours, and the projection is particularly noticeable at the beginning. It is also significantly less overpowering than "Khamrah / خمرة | Lattafa / لطافة" or "Sharaf Blend / شرف | Zimaya."
The price/quality ratio is of course much better than the original, currently you can get the fragrance for between €40 and €50 for 100ml, which is hard to complain about. I think the scent also makes a really nice gift. For anyone looking for a fragrance that comes closest to "Angels' Share (Eau de Parfum) | Kilian," in my opinion,
Royal Blend is the way to go.
