Body Chemistry Test Needed!
I haven't worn nearly as many fragrances as many of you scent lovers out there, so I've never experienced the whole "may not work with your body chemistry" thing until today.
I tried out Pivoine on a cotton ball first for my initial impression. A slightly bitter opening that fades away pretty quickly to reveal a light, airy, slightly powdery floral. Having never smelled some of these accords irl, I could only assume based on the listed notes I was getting the rhubarb/red currant, peony, and musk. A pretty scent for a day out.
My next test was after a shower and some unscented moisturizer. The bitterness was extremely sharp, like biting into the pith of a grapefruit, but this time the bitterness lingered. I needed something sweet to offset it and dabbed the sweetest fragrance I have in my stash, Gia. With just the lightest touch, I was able to overcome that acridity and still maintain some of that powdery floral, but it's basically a skin scent at this point and it's only been a few minutes!
Chalking this one up to chemical incompatibility (my first one!), but for anyone else I think it's a lovely choice. I prefer it over Women's Collection - Radiant Peony .
