Violette Fragonard 2012 Eau de Toilette

A sample came in the mail today and I opened it not really expecting much, but this turns out to be a dreamily heady floral. Blackberry and orange create a fresh, controlled, but inviting top note, rousing curiosity. Then all at once the alluring heart florals sing like mezzo violins and then the musk base throbs and with the raspberry a triangle pings. What a surprise to find a near concerto in this fragrance's simple notes, but that's the rub, isn't it? Common notes that anyone might play, in the hands of a maestro become song. Bravo to Fragonard for a spring/summer fragrance that can hold its own in the cold. No wish list for this, straight to FB for me.

It starts off candy-sweet and reminds me of the famous Nimm 2. But the violet is also present, quite authentically. The scent thus comes across as very one-dimensional floral and slightly fresh to citrusy. Really only for fans of this type of fragrance. Somehow, I also feel that it is more suitable for young girls.

In the heart note, the strongly floral scent recedes a bit and fruity notes come into play even more strongly. This is definitely not for me. Unfortunately, it becomes a floral-fruity monotony that the world no longer needs. Even though the violet-like note remains. It's a pity; they should have just stuck with the violet. But with indifferent fruity notes, my nose revolts, and I must condemn these notes. Overall, the scent is quite sweet. Hm...suck on a Nimm 2 and then smell it.
But in defense, I must also say that the violet fluctuates between the violets and the fruits. Sometimes you smell one, sometimes the other more strongly.

The scent aura is not heavy or strong. I would rate the longevity as medium.

In any case, this is not a fragrance that one must absolutely have.

As a big lover of violets and iris, I ordered the new Violette from Fragonard as well. And I am thrilled!

This fragrance can easily compete with Balenciaga Paris! Perhaps this one was also composed by Fragonard?

This scent is elegant, very violet-heavy, powdery, and simply beautiful. A very subtle leather note always lingers, and a delicate spiciness gives the fragrance its special charm. Since it is an EdT, you can generously apply it without feeling overwhelmed. I can't detect the berries mentioned in the fragrance description. That doesn't bother me at all, as I was expecting a soft, powdery violet scent anyway.

The longevity is very good; you can perceive a lovely scent veil for hours.

In terms of price, Violette is unbeatable! For just 14 euros, you get a nice 50 ml bottle, and soaps and scented candles are also available.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this fragrance to all violet enthusiasts!

I have liked Fragonard since my first visit to the Fragonard factory in Grasse at the age of 23 ... - fortunately, nowadays you don't have to go there yourself to purchase the beautiful Fragonard perfumes, the online shop is great and delivery to Germany is fast and reliable.
"Violette" has unfortunately turned out to be extremely "modest." The violet is often a symbol of modesty, but unfortunately, you can hardly smell it in this Eau de Toilette; is that meant to be ironic? Instead, light fruity accents take center stage. I really can't identify a distinct violet note, which is a shame. The Eau de Toilette is extremely weak, with a light peachy hint and very delicate floral accords, violets in the background, lasting about 30 minutes. The packaging and design are quite cute, but for 19 euros, I expected more. Those looking for a true violet scent will not be satisfied with this lightweight.

My experiences with the actual scent of natural violets are unfortunately non-existent. I had hoped to learn something about how a violet truly smells through this supposedly pure violet fragrance, as I enjoy scents that highlight a specific flower.
Fragonard kindly sent me a sample, allowing me to delve deeper into the fragrance and examine its composition more closely: even this strongly reminds me of Lancôme's Trésor Midnight Rose and promised no "pure" violet scent anymore. Violets are supposed to smell clear, sweet, fresh, and spring-like. The fragrance does have something clear and sweet, which I must attribute to the violet simply "by hearsay."
However, regarding the scent development: initially, a sweet berry note unfolds, in which I can hardly detect the announced orange, yet the top note is appealing. In the heart note, I primarily recognize a beautiful, deep rose note, surrounded by charming jasmine and the presumed violet. After the base, according to Fragonard, consists of musk and raspberry, it indeed blends seamlessly with the heart note.
The Eau de Toilette proves to be long-lasting: a cheerful and sweet bouquet lingers on the skin.
I hinted at it above: the fragrance overall reminds me a lot of Trésor Midnight Rose, which I do like, but its fruity, dark sweetness is more suited for autumn, while I would associate the violet with spring.
It is a young, beautiful, feminine, clear scent; however, for a fragrance announced as "Violette," I find this note too overshadowed by the strong companions in this scent.
The search for the original violet, meanwhile, continues for me...
