“Lost In Christmas”
I’ve been sampling out of a 10mL for a week and a half now, with a bottle on the way. Here are my initial thoughts:

Roja has released a few fragrances on the sweeter side in the past few months with Aoud Extraordinaire, Chou Chou, and now Lost in Paris. Both Aoud Extraordinaire and Chou Chou were lackluster releases, for me. I was intrigued when Lost and Paris was released and I saw the notes. 7 of the notes in the composition are in my top 10 favorite notes.
Now to the scent. I enjoy the scent, but it doesn’t put me in the mindset in the way Roja was marketing this fragrance. I’ve never been to Paris, and never had a crepe so I can’t make a correlation there. The opening is spot on with the listed top notes though. A blast of orange hits you in the face right away. It’s more of a bitter orange than a mélange of sweet and juicy oranges. Very quickly (A couple seconds), a rum note comes through adding extraordinary warmth to the bright citrus, making it such a pleasant contrast and a very nice smell. This only lasts for 5 minutes unfortunately, and I would’ve been content if this was the linear scent through the life of the fragrance.

As this dries down, an overly sweet burnt sugar and caramel note comes through. Think of the scent of crème brûlée. I do really enjoy the butter accord as it adds a creamy, almost milky facet to the mid. If the butter accord wasn’t there to smooth this composition out, this would’ve been a mess in my opinion. It sure is a gourmand lovers dream at this point.

Now to my least favorite part of the scent. A lovely vanilla and many spices come through, making this scent come together to feel like a fuzzy, warm blanket hugging your body. Why the overdose of clove though?! The clove turns me off and is almost headache inducing at times, if I’m not fully prepared for it. It’s super heavy and is a large part of the projection, unfortunately.

On to performance. Hands down a beast of a performer and probably top 5 in my collection based on the collective longevity and projection. Every time I wore this, I could only bear two sprays as this projected heavily for 8 hours. The life of the fragrance went on for 18 hours, and both my wife and I noticed it 14 hours later when we woke up the next day. Be prepared for a beast!

Overall, I think this is a nice fragrance and is much better than Roja’s other two latest creations. However, I long for a better dry-down only because the clove can be overbearing and take over the whole dry-down. Unfortunately for us guys out there that don’t enjoy feminine scents, this does turn to the feminine side after a couple hours on skin but many will consider this unisex.

The opening is WOW, the mid is good, and the dry-down is MEH. The performance is beast mode and will contend for one of my strongest fragrances. The moral of the story is, this should be called “Lost in Christmas” as this conjures festive moments and reminds you of the warmth and love of the holiday season.

PS: This is no where near worth its retail price, nor does it belong in the prestige/purple cap collection.

Thank you for reading!

Lost in Paris: a fragrant fairy tale or the sweetest trap?
I ordered this perfume full of anticipation, as it was described by many as a seductive, complex fragrance that would inevitably attract compliments. But when I put it on, I was surprised from the very first second - and not necessarily in a positive way.

The first nuances flow directly onto my skin: a mixture of mandarin orange and rum that almost jumps out at me and literally shouts: "Here I am! Perceive me!" The fragrance is anything but subtle and comes across very strongly. It's as if the city itself wants to speak through this fragrance, but I felt overwhelmed rather than enchanted.

I admit that my feelings about "Lost in Paris" are certainly subjective. While many praise its sweet and warm character, I find the combination of heart notes almost too cloying and clunky. The caramel and sugar aspect is more of an overwhelm than a pleasure for me. It feels like I'm standing in a cluttered patisserie, surrounded by sweet treats that are just too much for me.

The shelf life, I have to admit, is impressive. I woke up the next morning to find that the scent was still present - for many that might be a plus, but for me it felt like I was being smothered by the sweet mist. My girlfriend wasn't exactly thrilled either. "It smells like an overdone dessert stall," she said, and I couldn't quite disagree with her.

To sum up, I have to say that "Lost in Paris" is not what I was expecting. However, I am sure that it will certainly go down well with others. It's a fragrance that can polarize - and that's what makes the world of perfume so fascinating.

I hope my honest feedback helps others who want to embark on an olfactory journey into the Christmas bakery :)

Lost in opposites
A little atypical for Roja, you can actually perceive almost all of the listed components of the fragrance pyramid in this fragrance. However, gourmands are a little atypical at Roja Dove, where everything else is usually blended into a flowery, ethereal allure.

Nevertheless, Roja has created a classic of the genre with Sweetie Aoud and so after the disappointments of the last few releases, my curiosity was piqued.

To be honest, I thought Curaçao was a gimmick in the fragrance pyramid and was surprised to be able to perceive it so clearly alongside the bitter orange and rum. Somewhere in the interplay between the tart, bitter nuances of bitter orange, the slightly sweet fruitiness of the mandarin and the sweetness of the brown sugar, which is present from the outset, the image of a cocktail is created with the high-proof companions and takes me back to tipsy summer nights of long-lost youth.
This top note starts off incredibly intense and dominant, but still leaves room for the heart notes and an almost completely contrasting fragrance impression. This is because butter, sugar, vanilla and clove combine to create Christmas cookie dough so authentic that you are almost tempted to eat it.

It takes a relatively long time for the top note to begin to weaken, a process during which the sour, almost citrusy facets become weaker and the fruity ones of mandarin orange become more dominant. And as the heart note comes more and more into focus, it too begins to change, finally leaving behind a shadow of sweet vanilla of all kinds.

What is interesting and atypical for Roja about this fragrance is that the two almost contrasting scent impressions of head and heart are virtually side by side, it almost seems like a layering experiment and has little to do with the typical blending of the house.
The image of an unbridged gap almost forces itself on me. Two facets of a fragrance that want to go in different directions and create a void between them in an intentional disharmony.

But it is precisely this space that is needed. Both components on their own are strong, intense and would be too much for me. Also too boring, too monothematic. But when they interact with each other, they capture each other and emphasize each other at the same time. The result is an interesting dynamic that inspires me and makes me want more.

Lost in Paris is a fragrance with personality, not a simple people pleaser or a simple aesthete. You have to like the curaçao note, as it comes with the slightly synthetic, artificial touch that can also be found in the drink and accept that somewhere in the interplay between the bitter head and the sweetish heart, a soapy touch resonates in the gourmand. You shouldn't expect a classic Roja fragrance and you shouldn't be too sensitive to strong scents, but if you have all that, you might lose yourself a little in this fragrance.

Bold gourmand cocktail
The new Roja fragrances are really struggling at the moment. Especially with the prices, it's almost clear that people are particularly critical. Understandable, I mean, we're talking about over 1000 euros for a perfume.

Nevertheless, I think it's a shame that many fragrances are taken apart just on principle, without really looking at what's behind them or getting involved with the fragrance.

Lost in Paris is a good example for me. I think it's an incredibly exciting gourmand fragrance. Even the beginning is really extraordinary: a fresh, fruity cocktail in which you can almost taste the bitter orange, blood orange and this curaçao. It has a slightly alcoholic touch from the rum, which I find quite exciting.

Then this caramelly, buttery sweetness comes through quite quickly. I know many people might find that too much, but that's exactly what makes it interesting for me. It's kind of brave that Roja is going in a slightly different direction than you're used to here.

When the beginning subsides, it becomes really creamy and warm. The heart of the fragrance is full of these gourmand notes - butter, caramel and sugar. It's sweet, but not sticky or annoying, but rather so inviting and soft.
And then the base! That's what makes the fragrance really special for me. When with other fragrances (e.g. PdM) only a hint of soft vanilla remains, here it goes on and on. It's as if you discover a new layer every time you smell it. At the very end, you can smell the typical Roja DNA again, which is reminiscent of the old Guerlain fragrances.

For me, this is definitely one of the best Roja releases of recent times. Of course, the price is high, but let's be honest: if you don't want to spend the money, don't spend it. These discussions about prices have already been held here very often. But anyone who wants to afford the fragrance will definitely not be disappointed. It has depth, courage and is constantly evolving.

Am I really that lost in Paris?
When Roja releases a new fragrance from the Prestige Collection, I naturally have to test it. However, as you know from him, you have to get to know and understand this fragrance first.
The fragrance starts with an alcoholic composition of Blue Curaçao and a fine fruity mandarin paired with blood orange. At the same time, I get a very present bitter orange, which strongly characterizes the top note and also makes it very complex.
The top note alone is not that easy to describe, so let me try a little story:

It was a lively evening in a Parisian bar, just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. The colorful lights of the city shone through the window of this bar. I took a seat in a cozy corner. The atmosphere in the bar was lively. The guests laughed, the glasses clinked and the music playing softly in the background made this bar such a cozy place.
Just as I was about to leaf through the menu, the charming waiter noticed me and smiled. "Would you like to try something special?" he asked. I nodded curiously. The graceful young garçon brought me a cocktail, which immediately caught my attention because of the Blue Curaçao. The deep blue color of the drink sparkled in the light of the bar and reminded me of a clear summer sky. The surface of the cocktail was covered in foam that shimmered slightly. The garnished tangerine peel was enthroned on top - twisted into artistic spirals and bright orange, it radiated freshness and fruitiness. The scent of mandarin immediately caught my nose. At the first sip, the aromas of the Blue Curaçao and the fruity note of the mandarin combined to form a perfect composition. The sweet taste of the Curaçao was complemented by the slight bitterness of the mandarin. Every sip felt like a little summer night that had unfortunately passed. As I sipped my cocktail with relish, I noticed a bitter orange scent. It seemed to come from another table. It was the enticing smell of a homemade aperitif, which mingled with the fruity aroma of my cocktail and created an intoxicating combination.
So I leaned back and let the scent work its magic on me. The Eiffel Tower twinkled in the distance as the lights began to flash. As I finished my cocktail, I felt a sense of excitement. I knew this was just the beginning of this fragrance journey. With a smile and full of anticipation, I looked into the night, ready to experience the next chapter of my adventure in the City of Lights.
The hours passed and dusk turned to night. I got up to take a short walk to the glowing golden Eiffel Tower. The sight was breathtaking...
-----
However, in typical Roja fashion, the fragrance does not simply retain this top note. Instead, it opens a gateway to gourmet heaven. The buttery note comes through more and more strongly but still remains very subtle. The cocktail slowly fades away, but always remains a faint memory. The caramel and caramelized brown sugar are now added, which finally takes the composition in the new direction. The spicy cinnamon, the fine vanilla and the Christmassy clove make the morning after a visit to this inviting bar in Paris shine.
-----
...The next morning, the city awoke to a soft light streaming through the window of my apartment. I decided to enjoy breakfast at a small café I discovered on my nightly walk. The path through the city was livelier than it had been last night: street vendors were selling fresh croissants and the smell of sweet pastries was in the air.
I sat down outside at a small round table in a café decorated with beautiful flowers and decided to order a warm croissant and open the daily newspaper.
As I savored the buttery texture of the croissant, I watched the passers-by hurry by. Every bite was a little piece of Paris. I was surrounded by the magic of this city and felt I had arrived completely.
-----
The complex fragrance journey of this inspiring scent ends as a gentle gourmand who never quite forgets last night. It is truly a fragrance that deserves to be part of the Prestige Collection and to wear the purple stones.

Thank you for reading and I hope that my small insertions describe the fragrance as it deserves.
