Perfect Trio
Of the samples that arrived today with my FB of the lovely Violette, only this fragrance grabbed my attention. It has violet, too, along with Citron and Linden. Can't stop smelling it. Unlike Violette, this isn't a heady floral. It's just a good violet combined with a sophisticated citrus and a fragrant but restrained non-standard wood. The result is a trio that's a delight to smell. It's not strong, mind you, but I'm slathering it on my hand so I can hold it to my nose when I go to bed.

Intrigued by the Linden
But I'm still not sure I could adequately discern what linden blossoms actually smell like.

Tilleul Cédrat is a little bit citrus, and a softly powdery floral. The jasmine sits quietly in the background. There's something very much like patchouli to me, but a patchouli I don't hate, which I'm having trouble reconciling because my hatred runs quite deep! It's likely the type of orange blossom Fragonard uses. It's similar to Fleur d'Oranger Eau de Toilette, but that was so neroli forward all I felt was patchouli. I'm not choking on it here and the citron keeps it from going too earthy for me.

Not something I'd keep for my collection, but if I smelled this on someone else I wouldn't wrinkle my nose in displeasure.

The bottle is nicer in the hand than I thought it would be from photos.

Linden Blossom Longing
Yes, I gladly admit it: Lehmann's "Lindenblüte," which is also sold as "N° 10 Linde Berlin" by Frau Tonis Parfums Berlin (the saleswoman in the store on Kantstraße told me that), is a particularly typical and intense linden blossom scent.
I encounter it quite often in the quiet residential streets of Berlin, just off the Kurfürstendamm, in early summer: First, I am always filled with shock, then pure joy at this powerful naturalness in the middle of the city.

Fragonard, as a finely nuanced, traditional perfume manufacturer, plants its blooming, fragrant linden trees in a magnificent garden, surrounds them with harmonious companions, and thus creates with "Tilleul Cédrat" from the "Le Jardin de Fragonard" line a charming place of eternal, still fresh-spicy early summer.

After I have traversed an opening that is a bit too loud for me personally, composed of citrus aromas wrapped in a green leaf mantle, I arrive at the blooming, fragrant heart of this southern garden.
Here they shine in lush white: linden blossoms (which will surely be harvested later for traditional tea), a multitude of magnificent jasmine flowers, filled and pompon-like or with large golden faces in an elegant leaf crown, and the more delicate, though no less intensely fragrant flowers of the orange trees.
They all truly radiate their rich beauty in the evening twilight, then, however, exuberantly and all-encompassingly.
The creators at Fragonard manage to soften this original, white "scent club" and transform it into enveloping, sensually pleasing early summer joy and cheerfulness.
To achieve this, they make use of the so spicy-silky, simultaneously woody-aromatic warmth of the cedars and a few cleverly placed, lightly animalistic musk accents.

Thus, a longing for light and warming sunshine, as well as pleasantly fragrant, smile-inducing memories, is skillfully packaged in the company's typical glass bottle.
"Tilleul Cédrat" is truly not a scent hothead in terms of sillage and longevity, rather a pleasantly quiet companion throughout the day (once I have left the citrus "door opener" to this garden behind me); although a little re-spraying here and there is necessary: But who cares? After all, it is spring!

Fragonard's rich garden scent spreads a good feeling; it offers a place under blooming trees in the fresh-aromatic green to a southern French longing spot.
What more could one want on a rainy February morning?

Captivating Linden Blossom
Yesterday, I received a package from Fragonard in my mailbox, and I was very pleased that one of the three fragrance samples was the scent 'Tilleul-Cédrat'.

In the evenings, I take long walks with my dog, both in summer and winter. I especially look forward to the time at the end of June/beginning of July each year when the linden trees start to bloom and release their incomparable fragrance. The scent of the summer linden is wonderful, but the scent of the winter linden is truly captivating. I stop by the winter linden trees, take a deep breath, and feel a sense of happiness when I smell this fragrance. As I continue walking, I already look forward to the next day when I will return.

Back to yesterday: I make myself a tea, sit down, open the package from Fragonard, and apply the scent 'Tilleul-Cédrat'. I smell a bit of linden, and I can clearly detect the violet; I like the fragrance. I feel happy and think I should order this scent.

I keep sniffing the fragrance, and after a relatively short time, it has completely changed. The linden scent and the violet have disappeared, leaving behind an intense soap scent. I am surprised and try again a little later - with the same result.

What a pity, I will not be buying this scent after all.

Too Much Violet in the Linden
In my search for a truly authentic linden blossom scent, I also came across Tilleul Cédrat. Unfortunately, it was not a hit for me.

The citrusy opening, which at least made it into the fragrance name, was gone for me almost immediately. Then comes the linden blossom, but almost just as intensely the violet. I can't really identify jasmine and orange blossom; rather, they come across as a diffuse floral jumble. Overall, it is harmonious. However, after the citrus opening fades, there is no significant development for me (thankfully, it did not become "soapy" on my skin). But overall, I found it too flat, too cloyingly sweet, and above all, too little linden for a Tilleul (or too much violet, depending on how you look at it).

The longevity was not particularly impressive, but the sillage was somewhat better - if that's how one sees it. At least in the first hour or so, there was enough sillage to annoy other people properly.

A little tip at the end: There is a really beautiful, authentic, and also very affordable linden blossom to sniff at Harry Lehmann!

Starts like a spring bloomer, then gets wrapped in jasmine without being smothered. Lovely pick for the first rays of sun.

This resinous acidity combined with linden blossom makes the scent fresh, carefree + not too sweet. It brings sunshine to the heart, even at 0 degrees.

Spring feelings under blooming trees: For me, a somewhat loud top note; the heart opens up to a wonderfully creamy linden symphony.

Both the linden and the orange blossom are quite gentle here. The scent feels floral-herbaceous-green-citrusy and I really like it.

I only smell the lemon in the first few seconds. Then the lime takes over, and it's really lovely. But it doesn't last very long.

Successful linden blossom scent, not too sweet. The blend with cedrat "Zitronatzitrone" works well. Another lovely fragrance from the Jardin line.

Less "dry" than other linden scents, as citrus adds juicy freshness. Still, it's a rather subtle fragrance with restrained linden.
