Celeb fragrances: what are your favs and why?

Celeb fragrances: what are your favs and why? 4

The impression I get from most online perfume discussion forums is that celebrity fragrances are looked down upon, seen as juvenile, seen as cash grabs, and deserve to mocked.

But if I like the way it smells and the way I feel when I wear it, I don't care where it's from or whose name is on the bottle. Yes, I own and wear several fragrances that cost upwards of $200 for a bottle. But I also own several celeb fragrances that cost under $30 for a bottle. AND there are a couple of those that consistently get more positive commentary than the pricey and/or niche fragrances I own.

The ones I own that consistently get positive comments are by a celebrity that I don't care for. And when I'm asked what I'm wearing, nearly everyone is shocked when I tell them. They're "Night Iris | KKW Fragrance / Kim Kardashian" and "Olive | KKW Fragrance / Kim Kardashian".

What do I like about them? I love the bottles. Honestly, that's what made me purchase them. Both have decent enough longevity, about 4-6 hours, so they're not a big commitment. They both have reasonably small sillage so they're an easy grab when I'm headed to any sort of event that's in close quarters. And they're surprisingly well done. Both are mainstream enough that they're not going to offend anyone, but also have just enough unexpected elements that I don't smell like everyone else in the room.

So what's your experience on the subject? Do you have any favorite celeb fragrances? And if so, what do you love about them?

I'm of the thinking that if I enjoy it, it's worthy to me—be it the visual arts, music, dance, et cetera. One of my most cherished perfumes is Fancy Nights. I don't really have an opinion about her as a singer or celebrity but I love that inky green vanilla like an ant loves a picnic! I know it turned a lot of people off because it was an off-putting musty moss and vanilla, but above all, it was a sugary sweet celebrity scent. I think it's sublime. I'm sad it's now discontinued.

@Seltzerpapi I love this topic and "underrated"/overlooked fragrances, especially affordable or accessible ones. I agree with you completely, and I can totally see why both of those bottles drew you in! It sounds like both are quality choices.

Some might not consider this "celebrity" since it's Victoria's Secret, but Camila Cabello was the face of Bombshell Magic and I haven't found anything else that compares.

The bottle is a heavyweight glass that makes it feel like a chunky chiseled gem. The packaging is beautiful too, and has a magnetic door closure - almost like a mini curio cabinet. But the fragrance itself is the best part: it comes across like a frosted juniper berry wreath. I love the deep greenery, chilly berry, spices - and most of all, that it somehow feels like inhaling cold winter air at an evening holiday market.

@Exciter76 I haven't tried this flanker you mentioned, but it sounds unique! I love Jessica Simpson's other fragrances like the OG Fancy Eau de Parfum - sugary sweet, but so well done. 👏

I think Celeb fragrances are very specific to the US market. I mean, even you'd find some in France, it's not really a thing.

I'm from western Europe and I see some celebrity scents in the stores. Most others are available online through amazon or fragrance discounters. Not too long ago I was able to pick up a bottle of Fantasy Eau de Parfum at TK Maxx for a small price. I've also seen Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Naomi Campbell and Sarah Jessica Parker's perfumes in stores. In the past I've also come across Rachel Zoe, Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry and Paris Hilton perfumes. There is a nice selection available here.

My favorites are Fantasy, Midnight Fantasy and Lady Gaga's Fame back when it just released.

I love Sabrina Carpenter's Sweet Tooth. It's a well done gourmand and it's so affordable. I know people have longevity issues with it but it lasts for a while on me and if I need to I can just reapply.

If it ever comes to the US, I'd like to get my hands on Ariana Grande's Vanilla Suede, the notes look good.

My favorite celebrity perfume is Paris Hilton Heiress. Still kickin' and timeless

Michael Jordan Legend. My first gourmand smells pleasant, like weekend breakfast at a diner.

Cheers!

Meow Katy Perry is my favourite cuz it’s sweet and milky

I can't get over the association with the celebs so I don't 'do' celeb fragrances. It's not because they are cheap (for reference my most expensive bottle is 'only' 149 euro's) and I do have and love some good cheapies, so it's not about being a snob Smile

I also don't like it when people in their reviews mention things like : 'This is something ....(any celeb) would wear' Smile

Smoky Mountain Eau de Toilette smells sooo good, like strawberries! I almost bought a bottle.

Great thread! As all this stupid niche snobbery seems to be a rising trend in the fragrance communities, it's good to see that there's still people out there who are actually caring how the fragrance smells like, not what the brand or price is. I dare to claim that there are several celebrity fragrances that are so unique that in a blind sniff test people couldn't tell that those are cheap, the only reason they're rating them down is because they have seen the bottle and know that they're celeb scents.

My personal top favourites are

Sweet Tooth Me Espresso Eau de Parfum

Truth or Dare Naked

Mad Love

Killer Queen Oh So Sheer

Adam Levine for Women

Rebelle Eau de Parfum

Heat The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour

Heat Wild Orchid

Xperience

Cherry Noir

Private Show Eau de Parfum

Halle Pure Orchid

Cat Deluxe Silver

Her Secret Desire

Scent from Above Eau de Toilette

I do love a good celeb fragrance!

Nirvana Rose I don't know if these count, but they're beautiful. I wish they weren't discontinued!

Fancy Eau de Parfum I love this too.

Cloud Eau de Parfum I still enjoy this, even though it's popular. Moonlight Eau de Parfum is beautiful too.

Truth or Dare was gorgeous, shame it's gone too Sad

Eilish No. 2 Not what you would expect from a celebrity fragrance. Smells dark, smoky and woody.

Glow Soapy musky easy to wear everyday fragrance.

Fantasy Intimate Edition I have seen people say this is a gourmand; I get musky lemon w/ ozonic violet leaf and an animalic note in the background. Its very well blended.

Only downside is I think all three of these bottles are ugly lol 😭

Don’t get me wrong, the Eilish bottle lady is stunning. That said, I feel like I have to say “excuse me, Madame” whenever I pick up any of the bottles. And of course, I always make sure to politely hold the bottles by the shoulders!

I feel so bad opening them too! It’s like I’m ripping the poor woman’s head off!

I'm with you two, and I'm glad I'm not the only one 😂😂😂 I felt so awkward trying the Billie fragrances in Ulta!

The only celebrity-produced perfume I own is Sabrina Carpenter's Sweet Tooth Caramel Dream Eau de Parfum . But I've never even heard a song by Sabrina. This bottle is amazing. I bought it because of the cover. But because of this bottle, I often see comments on Amazon saying, "I thought it smelled like chocolate, but it's not." lol
By the way, the reason I don't buy many celebrity-produced products is because I feel like "they're already successful enough"...

2

The two I find myself wearing the most are Indi by Katy Perry (lovely soft white musk) and REM by Ariana Grande! I love REM so much, I wish it lasted longer on me- it's lavender shortbread heaven.

One of my absolute favourite perfumes in my collection is Ari Eau de Parfum; it was suggested to me one time while I was shopping and after smelling it for the first time, I couldn't get it out of my mind. I was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. It's an amazing everyday scent in my opinion, and I love how fruity yet soapy it is on my skin. The scent itself makes me feel so happy and energised, hence why it is one of my favourites.

I also really love Sweet Tooth Eau de Parfum, which I went through pretty quickly after purchasing my first bottle. This was actually my first celebrity fragrance purchase and I just fell in love with the bottle and scent profile upon first spritz. It's a lovely scent, perfect for the colder months and it quickly became a bedtime fragrance during the winter. It may not have that much lasting power compared to other scents, but it's still absolutely delicious and comforting for me as a wearer.

Cosmic Kylie Jenner Eau de Parfum was a celebrity perfume that really surprised me, similar to Ari. I don't have it in my collection right now, but it's a really good night scent that clings and wraps around you in the best possible way. I actually tend to suggest this particular fragrance to people if they ask for my suggestions, as it's pretty versatile for most people who wear perfume. I sadly cannot say the same about its flanker, 2.0.

It's been a while since I last posted here. I still adore Fancy Nights but I've been wearing Gardenia a lot this year. It's so pretty!

2

Sarah Jessica Parker had a few interesting ones back in the day: Lovely Eau de Parfum and Covet

Eilish No. 2 is an interestingly austere one as celebrity offerings go, and I like Your Turn for about ten minutes, after which its just the standard sandalwood-cashmere musks, kinda blah. Front loading is annoying.

Ohhh and of course both collabs Comme des Garçons did are phenomenal: Daphne and G I R L by Pharrell Williams

hi,

I have Cloud Eau de Parfum , Pure Honey and Fleur Fatale. I don’t really like them that much anymore and that is why I don’t wear them.

I also have Fenty Eau de Parfum and Reb'l Fleur Eau de Parfum these are nice!
the celebrity frags that I’m very impressed with are the ones from Rammstein KerosinRosenrot etc etc I have not one bottle of these but I can appreciate them.

Some celebrity fragrances are genuinely underrated when judged on scent alone, and a few are really well-made and great value. Scents like Ariana Grande Cloud or Britney Spears Fantasy prove that the ‘celebrity’ label doesn’t automatically mean low quality. In the end, if it smells good and you enjoy wearing it, that’s what matters.
