What are your top 3 most complimented fragrances of all time 0

Please include when and where you tend to wear them (e.g., season, occasion) and why you think they get compliments.

My top 3 most complimented fragrances:

Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man Limited Edition – It always grabs attention with its smoky pineapple vibe. Great projection and long-lasting.

Tom Ford Oud Wood – Sophisticated and mysterious. I often get compliments when I wear it in the evening or during colder months.

Rasasi Hawas Ice – Fresh and modern, perfect for summer. It gets a lot of positive reactions, especially in warm weather.

Fall, winter and early spring:

Mitsouko Eau de Parfum One day a co-worker even followed me, sniffing my neck Smile

Fall and spring:

Liu Eau de Parfum but only when people are standing within armlength.

Spring and summer:

Infusion d'Iris (2015) Eau de Parfum (I got noseblind to it sometimes, but others could smell it apparently and I noticed that, when I spray one spray on my chest, I am- and others are able to smell it best ).

Private Collection Eau de Parfum People say I leave a beautyful flowery trail when wearig it (I sometimes find it a bit too much though).

Summer heat:

Eau de Rochas (2015) People find it smells good and boyfriend thought I payed a lot for it; He said 'it smells expensive', but acutally it is quite affordable Smile.

All seasons:L'Air du Temps Eau de ParfumPeople say it smells lovely, and that they get beautyful wafts from it (which is certainly a quality of this fragrance, I keep getting these wafts also).

Once:

Givenchy III (2007) when smelled up close, by a female co worker.

Jicky Eau de Parfum from my boyfriend, he loves the lavender in it. (Haven't worn it in public yet)

(Sorry, those were more than 3, but I couldn't choose Smile)

Fragrances are not culturally accepted in my country so compliments are extremely rare here (also complimenting in general is not a part of our culture). Fragrance insults, instead, are sometimes daily, I don't know if I should launch a thread of my most insulted fragrances - probably not as it would be a very long list 🤣 Jokes aside, fortunately I don't care what other people think of my fragrances as I wear them for myself. However, my friends and family do like perfumes and during my long fragrance journey I have sometimes got those rare compliments from strangers also, most of them have been foreigners though. 😂 So based on my experiences during the past 10 years:

Spring/summer most complimented: Sun di Gioia, Omnia Paraiba, Yellow Diamond

Autumn most complimented: So Elixir Purple, Classique Essence de Parfum, Black Opium Floral Shock

Winter most complimented: Manifesto L'Elixir, Good Girl Eau de Parfum, La Nuit Trésor L'Eau de Parfum

I'm thinking that these ones have got most compliments because I have worn them relatively often as they are quite versatile and fit to several different occasions. Also I think they are all quite "popular" smells with a little twist so that they are not too simple but not too complicated either. Non-fragheads don't probably really get "artistic" or "challenging" fragrances so I'm sure those ones wouldn't get too many compliments from random strangers.

In my country, wearing perfume is persecuted and I've never been praised for it, but I didn't know that there was such a culture in @Lempi 's country. It's strange.

That's why I can't post on this thread. Lol

I've only been wearing a rotation of fragrances for a short while, so I'm sure this list will change. My current most complimented are:

Cyan Nori Eau de Parfum

Blackbird

and my old favorite, former signature Black Orchid Eau de Parfum

One of my friends also told me that Cyan Nori smells like semen so it is not universally loved haha

It's actually funny that many Finns love Japanese culture and vice versa we also in Finland the most tourists are Japanese and I have heard an explanation that there's a lot in common in our cultures, for example appreciating silence, appreciating high education and having lots of rules in the society and everybody follows them. I don't know if these things are really in common in both cultures because I've never been to Japan but that's what I've heard and they're definitely true in Finland at least. 😅

But yeah, I actually explored the Finnish fragrance hate a little bit in this blog article. I guess that it's mostly the Finnish cultural thing called "personal space", certain people think that fragrances are invading their personal space here. Finns tend also to be super sensitive and have lots of allergies for some reason. I've always felt an outsider this way because I have loved fragrances and smells as long as I remember and I'm not allergic to anything. Maybe it's my Scottish blood then, in most things I relate more to the Scottish culture (where my ancestors and my husband are from) instead of Finnish culture even though I was born and raised and lived my whole life in Finland 😂

I would find this very entertaining actually 🤣 maybe I should start a separate thread for most insulted fragrances...

As for my own answer, I have never had anyone even acknowledge the fact that I'm wearing fragrance, somewhat to my relief.

LOL that would be a fun thread actually 😂 And I also think that I get what you mean, I'm very introverted myself so I don't really like to talk to strangers so I also don't really like them to comment my perfumes. I wear fragrances to myself, mainly for both own enjoyment and especially anxiety relief, so I don't really get this "compliment-fishing" thing. Of course it's always nice to get any compliment from a familiar person but from strangers I usually find it just awkward because I'm a very socially awkward person. 😅

Fragrances that get compliments are always my top picks. At AW Scents, these three always stand out:

Viking Cologne - Bold and adventurous, perfect for making a statement.

Black Tie - Classy and refined, great for formal settings.

Tres Chere - Smooth and elegant, leaving a lasting impression.

The fragrances that get the most complimented for me are never my favorites, nor what people would expect.

1. Liquid Amber : I don't know why, but people love this.

2. Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum

3. Just plain cedarwood essential oil I dabbed on because I realized I'd forgotten to put perfume on before I left for work

I don't really mind about compliments, but about how I feel while wearing the fragrance (which maybe is the reason for compliments), but:

1 - Versace pour Homme Dylan Blue Eau de Toilette - Never fails to pull compliments, no matter where I go this fragrance seems to just work with my skin chemistry and my unconscious just feels more confident while wearing it.

2 - Détour Noir - Not as many compliments as Versace pour Homme Dylan Blue Eau de Toilette was able to ever pull for me, but maybe because I don't use it as a daily driver and rather special events, like bars, clubs or dinner. But I would say it is up there at the top as well.

3 - Riflesso - With the same DNA as La Nuit de L'Homme Eau de Toilette , people who complimented me mainly apreciated its freshness / cleanliness, and probably it made them feel happy in the way they approached me. I guess cleanliness is always welcome anywhere you go.

It's never a bad feeling to receive compliments tho, so I wish my beloved Le Mâle Le Parfum or The One for Men Eau de Parfum ever pulled me as many compliments as the ones mentioned before.

Since I own that one: It definitely is Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum which is remarkable because it's often said to be a 'skin scent', close to the skin, but people love the whiffs they get from it. (I do too Smile)

I went to try this in-store, but the tester was empty, so it must be a popular one. Hope to try it when I get to Europe.

Hi Raluko, You can also order a sample at Skin cosmetics: https://www.skins.nl/en/about-...They sell in Germany, England, France and the Netherlands. In the Netherlands and Belgium there also are boutiques, don't know about the other countries.

Thank you for this! Headed to a conference in Munchen next month, so hopefully I'll run into it there.

✨Ah ✨It is such a shame that it has been discontinued! I have one bottle of it left, a full bottle. It is probably my second all time favourite perfume behind Vendetta Eau de Toilette

If you look at my profile I have put photos up of my botttle of Escada (1990) Eau de Parfum if you feel like having a look Smile
